I adopted this for a 10 week ESL methods course and it worked well as an overview - while knowledgeable in its choice of what to include, it is not "exhaustive" (and exhausting) like others in the genre. There are good graphic organizers, some good classroom techniques, a nod to the standards, and summaries of research, in an affordable and not overwhelming book. For a 10 week course, and with supplementary materials, it worked pretty well. Some of it had a distinctly "California" focus, but that was able to be adapted reasonably well.
