Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This collection contains the views of various philosophers (and a few other professors) on teaching environmental ethics. The essays discuss various large issues confronting teachers of such courses, e.g., whether professors should be advocates of a specific ethic, how students best learn, fostering critical thinking, what kinds of issues such courses should cover, and more. Although there is not agreement here on all these important questions, the essays provide the reader with many important insights and arguments about them, alerting anyone teaching environmental ethics to the questions that must be answered before the course begins as well as providing examples of strategies and techniques that have worked. The descriptions of the courses are inspirational, and different essays will appeal to different readers/teachers. But just having such a variety of approaches and rationales available is a welcome resource for both beginning and experienced professors teaching environmental ethics.
