If you are a teacher and teach using Jan Brett books this is an excellent resource to add to your library. It has many creative activities to compliment some of her most popular book titles. With writing being one of the critical components of the new standardized tests, this book is a fresh approach to working with those skills. This teaching guide can be supplemented with some of the many activities that Ms. Brett has available on her web site.

I used this book to teach a fall semester class once a week to kids aged K - 3rd. It was a little young for 3rd graders. I supplemented the book with free printables from Jan Brett's website [...]. All the kids loved the books - even the 3rd graders, but some of the activities were a little easy for them. It has different printables from the website, including a great one about how to measure things in hands like horses, and another about sorting the different sounds of C that you hear in Country and City mouse. There's also some good activities about animals and habitats, as well as some geography lessons. On each of the first 10 books there is a sidebar that lists similar books that you can use to supplement or expand the lesson. Most of the lessons can be adapted to one child, or to a class. A great resource and well worth it. My only complaint is that it only covers her first 10 or so books in depth, and just lists a couple ideas each for a few of her others. There was plenty of material, but an updated version with her newer books would be great!
