Very Good But Not The Best,
This review is from: Teaching Kids Baseball With Jerry Kindall [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video touched on a lot of good aspects of fundamental baseball and is beneficial for parents and coaches. If you really are looking for an excellent teaching tool try "The 59 Minute Baseball Practice" which I also bought. This is really a superior video to most instruciotnal videos. Both tapes will help any parent. "Teaching Kids Baseball" is very good but "The 59 Minute Baseball Practice" is probaly the best teaching tool I have seen in all my years coaching Little League and buying books and videos.

I was very pleased with this video. Coach Kindall knows what he's talking about. His information is practical and he covers all the key elements of the game. He clearly shows you how to teach kids to correctly hold and throw a ball, the basics of good fielding, hitting, base running, pitching and drills to reinforce these skills. It is so much easier to teach youngsters the right technique the first time than it is to try to work with a kid to "un-learn" a bad habit. I would consider his instruction appropriate for kids at the T-Ball level on up through Little League. The comments by the sports psychologists are worthwhile for parents and coaches to keep in mind, especially their emphasis on keeping it positive and upbeat. After all, baseball is a game - but it is more fun when the youngster (especially at the Little League level) can win by playing well.

Great teaching video for coaches or dads,

This video is packed full of good teaching advice for team coaches or for dads who want a systematic way to teach their sons baseball fundamentals. Most dads think they have an "instinctive" knowledge of how to swing a bat or throw a ball. Don't fool yourselves! Get this video and avoid teaching bad habits.Coach Kindall combines sound fundamentals with group drills for throwing, catching, hitting, sliding, etc. You'll know exactly what to do and say for each drill after watching (and re-watching) this video.

A little disappointing,

I was disappointed with this video. It reviews some basic skills for young players but I didn't think this was helpful for coaching. I was hoping for a video which was more geared for the coach and was hoping for more examples of many different specific drills that I can use in practice. This video reviews skills (which I already know)but doesn't take that to the next level for a coach. Knowing the skills, you then have to use your own imagination about putting together a practice. This video is better geared towards kids to watch and learn for themselves, though it is a little dry.
