About the Author
Kathy Pike has been a classroom teacher, a reading teacher, and a college professor. She is currently an elementary school principal in Cambridge, New York. Jean Mumper is a fifth-grade teacher in Wallkill School District. She has taught at all elementary grade levels. In addition, she is the Director of the Curriculum Center at SUNY/New Patlz, and has been an adjunct professor of education there.

The activities and ideas presented in this book are timeless and ageless. They can be easily adapted for any grade level. The focus on care and cooperation can reach across the curriculum and be the core of teaching today's children and young adults. The book includes an extensive bibliography as well as full sized reproducible pages and patterns. The illustrations make it easy to visualize the completed projects. The book is easy to read and will enrich any teacher's "idea bank".
