About the Author

Tommye-K. Mayer has a BA in Sociology from Wheaton College, Norton Massachusetts. Just one year after graduation she found herself doing graduate work in Rehabilitation at the "School of Hard Knocks" when Mayer survived a nearly fatal thalamic cerebral hemorrhage. She has been working on rehabilitating herself ever since; especially after a negligent automobile driver drove over her affected left foot returning her to complete left hemi-paresis ten years after the hemorrhage/stroke.

Teaching Me To Run is the true story of one woman's struggle back from a debilitating stroke. Against all odds she not only taught herself to walk but taught herself to run. For anyone who is struggling through life, for anyone who thinks they're having a bad day or a tough time, this book is an eye-opener. Tommy-K. Mayer is an inspiration and her story should be read, reread and shared.
