This review is from: Teaching Natural Birth: Deciding to Teach and Establishing Your Own Successful Business (Paperback)
As an experienced childbirth educator, Jan Whitcomb has presented the profession in a realistic and positive manner. Whether you're thinking about embarking on a career in this field or already teach, there are practical ideas and advice that will be referred to again and again. Especially appreciated are the validations for the "work at home mom" as a professional. Topics explored in the book range from teaching grandparents and siblings to attending births as a labor support provider and sensitive insights to the subject of adoption. With creative ideas for reunion classes and of course the many sides of running a successful business, this book leaves few stones unturned. Sprinkled throughout the various chapters are comments from parents and educators and an abundance of photos. The appendix and resource section is 64 pages long and covers a wide range of organizations, recommended resources, books and publications. With humor, reality and lots of insight, Jan helps us explore the many facets of teaching natural childbirth and as she empowers us, we are in turn empowered to help families birth naturally. Coming soon is the companion volume "STILL TEACHING NATURAL BIRTH".
