Book Description

“Teaching Oral Disease Prevention. 6 of 12” is the sixth in a series of twelve Teaching Oral Disease Prevention Amazon Kindle, eBooks written by retired dentist Dr. Garth Pettit, Author, Oral Health Care Educator to fulfil a mission he began in 1996, Prevent Oral Diseases in Children..

The author’s research led him to put the oral hygiene instruction Brush Your Teeth to a SWOT analysis which indicated the instruction does not clean the entire mouth of unwanted debris, nor leave the whole mouth protected against oral diseases and therefore could be a cause of oral diseases. He created the instruction, Treat Your Mouth, later changed the name to Treat Your Whole Mouth and more recently changed it to Paint Your Mouth....because children became thrilled and excited by the thought and wanted to ‘paint your mouth’.

Each of these eBooks is an oral health care education resource children themselves can read and understand but preferably teaching oral health and teaching oral disease prevention is best achieved with supervision by parents and, or educators.

In this sixth eBook of the twelve book series this is what children will learn:

Lesson 4 covers 'X. Y. Z. plaque and lurkeez', continuing the lesson structure of previous titles and focusing on one particular place these elements can hide to cause much damage to teeth, gums and tongue.

Plaque and different kinds of bacteria and germs are explained in a title that tells how 'X, Y and Z' are mixed up in the mouth, how tiny germs that look like worms mix with saliva and 'X, Y and Z', and how plaque builds up.

Big color drawings of plaque accompany an explanation of what it consists of, how it builds, and how saliva helps the digestive process and aids in good oral health.

Fun and exercise time includes drawings of lurkeez, saliva drops, tooth surfaces, and layers of plaque from different meals of the day.

Oral questions, more drawing exercises, and 'painting your mouth' questions reinforce learning and offer kids the opportunity for another Certificate of Achievement.

The focus on plaque, its origins and buildup capabilities, and how important it is to identify and eradicate plaque early on provides a very simple lesson plan that builds on the previous explanations and simplifies the entire process of understanding where plaque comes from.

Seven important surfaces to clean to prevent the buildup of plaque are reviewed in a title that emphasizes the layering abilities of plaque buildup.

Lesson 4 takes another giant step in outlining the building blocks of oral hygiene and continues to add depth by building oral health and dental facts slowly in a step-by-step process.

“Teaching Oral Disease Prevention. 6 of 12” is another fun-filled lesson for children’s oral health education and oral disease prevention.

More About the Author

I have been an Oral Health Care Educator since 1996 the year, five years after I had been retired from private dental practices, I created this Mission: Prevent Oral Disease in Children.
In January 1997, to research for the books I intended to write , I accepted a Government position where I would be involved with chidren, parents, teachers and schools. With a short break this continued in two other locations until I again retired in late 2010.
I am the creator of the oral hygiene instruction Paint Your Mouth, a preventative instruction far superior to Brush Your Teeth.
My books that teaching oral disease prevention span many ages: from books that teach 14 Week Foetus, to Toddlers, to 5 to 12 year olds, to teenagers, adults and through to Golden Oldies.
They are currently, January 2014, under the micrscope of an Education Minister and of University Dental Researchers. The omens are looking good. Please keep checking here.
