Not what I thought. My Fault
I just wanted to teach kids outdoor map and compass. This is book is about the sport of orienteering. Total misunderstanding on my part. I'm sure it's probably good, so I gave it three stars. Just wasn't what I needed.

Comprehensive guide to learning and teaching orienteering, August 23, 1998
This review is from: Teaching Orienteering 2nd (Paperback)
Carol McNeill combines experience and proficiency in orienteering (7th at the World Championships) and in instruction and coaching; she knows both how to do it and to teach it. This book is liberally illustrated with maps, diagrams, and photos, and provides ideas for teaching map and compass use through orienteering that can be applied to all ages and levels. Most of the map examples are from Scotland and some aspects of the text are specific to the United Kingdom, but the text and exercises apply to all locations. This is a wonderful resource for those who wish to teach orienteering or learn to orienteer better. I go back to it again and again. Highly recommended.
