5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Inspirationl, Feel-Good, Timely Kids Album Ever!!
If every child (and yes, adult) listened to this beautiful music and took heart, the world would be a much better place. 3.0 out of 5 stars Sing along fun
Two songs are especially good for singing with elementary age children; "Teaching Peace" and "Rapp Song". There are other songs that are okay, but those two are GREAT!

If every child (and yes, adult) listened to this beautiful music and took heart, the world would be a much better place. The lyrics resonate to the very core of what children want and need...peace, complete acceptance, a sense of belonging, and tools for conflict resolution. I am a former Educator and Mother of four small children..I am using this album to reinforce positive life lessons and principles that I hope my children grow up with. My children sing the lyrics constantly, everywhere we go, and in doing so, they are continually reverberating kindness, goodness, basic human decency, and just plain 'ol being nice to others. I can't recommend this album highly enough! I feel like returning to teaching just so I can implement this music in a larger "Teaching Peace" unit. Thank You So Much, Red, for such an uplifting and truly timely and inspirational album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful music for the entire family, October 5, 1999
By A Customer

I bought Teaching Peace after seeing Red Grammar in action. His music is catchy and has a beautiful message for children. My children were only 5, 4, and 2 when I bought this music, but even now at the ages of 14, 13, and 11 they know all the songs by heart. I am giving a copy to my sister, because my children refuse to part with our copy. What a wonderful and timeless message of love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific, non-annoying kids' music!!, December 11, 2002

I bought this CD after falling in love with Red Grammer's "Hello World" album (my kids' favorite CD ever, 3+ years after buying it!). We also love Teaching Peace! My husband and I find that Red Grammer makes music for kids that we really enjoy -- we don't mind listening to it over and over (and you all know what I mean...). The messages in these songs are thoughtful and positive. A great collection from a truly talented and inspiring musician.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songs our Kids NEED, December 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaching Peace (Audio CD)
My oldest daughter received this CD on her first Christmas, 6 years ago. It has become a family favorite in the years since.

It is an album parents and educators (I am both.) will not only "not mind" hearing repeatedly, they will enjoy. The lyrics are kid oriented but not repetive or over simplified. The music, especially for those of us who like folk is refreshingly diverse.

The songs' themes of community, problem solving, and the respect for and embracing of all kinds of diversity are timely. My daughter's kindergarten teacher was using it after the events of Sept. 11, and was thrilled to hear her singing right along.

I have used it in my classroom for years in both Social Studies and Character units.

I listened to Red Grammar's music for years when I was younger and always loved it. My cousin (19), sister (14), and I (17) still enjoy listening and singing along.

5.0 out of 5 stars great music about everyday social interactions, June 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaching Peace (Audio CD)
Aside from some of the larger themes mentioned by other reviewers, this wonderful music teaches a lot about everyday social interactions that toddlers and young children are just learning about. My almost 3 year old late-talker (just started using single words about a month ago) taught himself to say "hi" appropriately while listening to the song "Say Hi!" many many months before he seemed ready to start talking otherwise. I think it just inspired him to open up that verbal interaction with others and when you hear the song you understand why. Other social things touched on are talking things out rather than fighting; speaking up for yourself; problem solving to include rather than exclude others; how good it feels to have people say nice things about you and vice versa. And the songs are great--I've been listening to them since several years before my son was born and I'm not tired of them yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a Mom and Elementary Teacher, June 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaching Peace (Audio CD)
We received this CD when my first daughter was 18months. I have used it at school (when I can sneak it out of the house). My girls (now 4 & 2) love the music. I find it refreshing to have quality music and voices to go along with the message.

The message of peace and cooperation is not lost on the very young, and even my sophisticated second graders at school are heard humming the tunes and repeating the important prosocial messages.

Red Grammer is terrific.

I have been using Re Grammer's record, TEACHING PEACE, for years now in my classroom. It is one of the best recordings of children's music that I own. I teach dance to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders, and not only do I need to teach the 'basics" of dance, but also integrate academics into the dance program. The songs on the album make that an easy task, and the arrangements make it a dancers dream. I hope that the few CD's that Mr. Grammer has out now will not be his last. I eagerly await more from this talented singer/songwriter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Voice! -- Great Message! -- Great Music!, July 1, 1999
By
This review is from: Teaching Peace (Audio CD)
What a voice! What a tenor! Please, Red, record some "grown up" music, too! (G&S, Cole Porter, some blues or some jazz?) Seriously, his albums are fun, "sing-to-able" and up beat. The kids will love them. My son and I still dance all over the den to "The Barnyard Boogie." The music's great, the voice is like a bell. We think "he's wonderful!" What we need now is MORE!
