5.0 out of 5 stars Practical Guide for Teaching Social Skills, September 20, 2004
By
Rick "Eagles Coach" (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Teaching Social Skills to Youth: A Curriculum for Child-Care Providers (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book for teachers, parents or anyone who wants to become more effective in helping children to use good social skills. It is very practical and useful. Various skills that children frequently have difficulty with are broken down into simple steps, easy to master and practice. For example: How to Accept Criticism; How to Disagree; How to Accepts No for an answer. What is difficult and often vague is simpified for children in a very clever and interesting way. For this middle school teacher, it was a great help and a very effective and easy way to teach what is so often lacking and difficult for children this age.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Parents, Educators, Youth Workers, July 26, 2011
This review is from: Teaching Social Skills to Youth: A Curriculum for Child-Care Providers (Paperback)
This is an excellent resource for all individuals who work with children and youth in a wide variety of settings from church organizations, youth programs, schools and treatment centers. And a needed resource for parents who are wanting to have a concise way to develop social skills in their children. As a former in home counselor at this well respected institute, I have witnessed the social skills model assist families in teaching important behaviors for future social success. These skills are easy to understand by children as young as 6. While I have not been associated with Boys Town in over a decade, this book has been used and referred by me to many.
