If you've never heard of Dr. Jean get to her website ASAP because you're missing out big time!! I am a Pre-K teacher and I first heard of Dr. Jean in 2000. I can honestly say she has changed the way I teach forever, her ideas and music are so inspiring your students can't help but learn. If you've never been to one of her workshops it's a MUST!
I have found the Teaching Tunes mini-books to be invaluable in my Pre-K classroom. We study a nursery rhyme for two weeks at a time (ESL students) and the mini-books have really helped my children learn these rhymes. By giving them a mini-book that goes with each song they get independent practive at home and school and at the same time they are learning to track print, return sweep and all sorts of other concepts of print. My students can't wait to get their new mini-book every two weeks! Many parents have told me that their children continue to read the mini-books long after they have graduated from my class :)

In the process of setting up new literacy stations in my kindergarten classroom, I reviewed many resources. I wanted to incorporate Nursery Rhymes into the poetry station and I know Dr. Jean CDs are very popular with the children. This book comes with the mini-books for each nursery rhyme and the CD with the songs. I enlarged each mini-book and made big books for each rhyme. I wrote the rhymes on sentence strips, with matching pictures from the mini-books, and I placed these in the Pocket Chart Station. The CD and minibooks can go in the Listening Station. Alot BANG for your buck!!

I ordered this book on the recommendation of a friend who really likes Dr. Jean. I did one of the songs and books with my four-year-olds and they really had fun with it. I am looking forward to doing more soon.

Dr Jean has done it again. This book contains reproducible mini-books and lessons for 12 nursery rhymes. I have been doing about 1-2 a month with my preschool four year olds and they LOVE it. We introduce and learn the song with the accompanying CD and then I introduce the words in a large pocket chart. Each child makes their own book and we use some enrichment activities also. It has taught them so many literacy skills!! Too many to write...
