My Guru?,
By
This review is from: The Teachings of Ramana Maharshi in His Own Words (Paperback)
One of the advantages of having an Online Book Seller business is that you get exposed to books otherwise unknown (and get first pick of the interesting ones :-)). I was undertaking a renewed interest in Zen, Buddism, etc. and focusing on ACIM (A Course in Miracles), when this book came in... immediately upon reading some of it I began margin writing and underlining and reading until every bit was consumed. Basically, the same nonduality as ACIM promoted, but with such simplicity and consistency... The Self alone is Real. All else is unreal.
Wow. Of course, anything more is redundant. However, I have found this text a very useful focusing tool to daily bring myself back to this point and remember. Beyond being one of the books constantly kept by my bed and taken when there might be a waiting period (like for a doctors appointment), it has caused me to explore other books by/about Ramana and led to the recent purchase of Nag...uh...someindiannameguruguy (not sure of spelling), another very similar Guru but who was a householder and business owner which is closer to my Life. Neem Karoli Baba is also a Great Guru who is very inspirational, but, never seems to have actually tried to promote or write books on his teaching. Sometimes I wonder how people can revere Jesus Christ and Buddha when all we have is hearsay often written hundreds of years after they lived... then there are these who have lived during our age and have living accounts of witnessed miracles and evidence... yet they are little known or thought of. Go figure.

This review is from: The Teachings of Ramana Maharshi in His Own Words (Paperback)
A wonderful collection of Sri Ramana's answers to questions about Enlightenment, how to get it, what it is, and more. It's easy to read. So wonderful to have his direct teachings, almost like Darshan.
