3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD, BUT INCOMPLETE AND A LOT OF ERRORS., October 30, 2005

This review is from: The Teachings of Seventh-Day Adventism (Paperback)
Needs correcting on key SDA doctrines.

I have found the following errors in Gerstner's booklet.

P13 "Unfortunately some Adventists actually regard all who observe Sunday as having received

the mark of the beast." Actually, SDAs teach that Sunday is the `mark of the beast' because the

`beast' is Roman Catholicism and the `mark' of its authority is that it changed God's Law from

Saturday to Sunday. In the last days, just before Christ returns, SDAs teach that all who worship

on Sunday will be lost. "Some" Adventists should read "all" if they are true SDAs who accept

Ellen White as a true prophetess.

P15, 20, 22. Gerstner gives Miller credit for discovering Ezra 7 and 457 B. C. as the beginning of

the 2300 days. Actually Miller had 15 proofs for arriving at 1844 and Ezra 7's 457 B. C. was not

one of them.

P17 "The Seventh-day Adventists differ very little from most Protestant churches in their

teaching of the nature of man." This is very wrong! SDAs teach that man does not possess a

"soul" because he is a "soul." Their formula is "man + breath of God = living soul." Most

Protestants and Roman Catholics teach that man is "body, spirit and soul." SDAs teach that man

ceases to exist at death and must be re-created from nothingness at the resurrection. The wicked

will be re-created from annihilation, judged, condemned and annihilated again in the lake of fire.

P18: The SDA church makes itself a false cult in its atonement doctrine. Ellen White said that

Christ's ministry can only apply to those who believe the Investigative Judgment message and,

thus, excluded William Miller. SDAs teach that priests (including Christ) literally carried sins

into the sanctuary and literally defiled the Most Holy Place of both the earthly sanctuary and the

dwelling place of God Himself.

P20: "Jerusalem is still the proper center of worship." This is wrong. SDAs teach that they are

Israel and the only true path to salvation, especially in the last day. Literal Jerusalem has no

relevance to them.

P20, 22: Gerstner says SDAs teach that Christ began searching the "hears" of professed believers

in 1844. This states their doctrine very mildly. SDAs teach that Christ and many thousands of

other beings must search every thing that every person has ever done in order to determine who is

to be saved and resurrected. Beginning with Adam, nobody has the assurance of salvation when

they die.

P21, 22: "Souls sleep at death." SDAs actually teach that souls cease to exist at death because the

spirit which returns to God is merely God's breath of life and is not an eternal soul. SDAs teach

annihilation at death, re-creation by resurrection, and a second annihilation of the wicked after a

final judgment.

P22: "Armageddon." The definition given in the booklet is not that used by SDAs. SDAs apply

the word to the end of their thousand years of desolation when Satan's forces will attack the New

Jerusalem which has ascended from heaven (Revelation 21:1,2).

P22: Midnight Cry. The SDA definition is not given in the booklet. SDAs use it to refer to the

time when SDAs will be delivered by the second coming of Christ and the apostate Roman

Catholics and Protestants (Sunday worshipers) will be destroyed while they try to kill all SDAs.

Conclusion: Gerstner is too lax with SDAs. While SDAs want others to accept them as orthodox

Christians, SDAs consider all non-SDAs as "fallen Babylon" and "daughters of the harlot" who

absolutely cannot be saved in the last days if they are still worshiping on Sunday. This is their

"Second and Third Angels' Messages." By Russell Earl Kelly, Ph. D.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book-Read It!, January 5, 2008
This review is from: The Teachings of Seventh-Day Adventism (Paperback)
This booklet is interesting & exposes the teachings & beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist religion; also exposes their late prophetess Ellen G. White. The SDA doctrines are unbiblical and so was EG White.

*** Suggestions:

DVD Documentries:

'Marks Of A Cult' and 'Seventh-day Adventism; the spirit behind the church'
