5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative
I am a former student of Dr. Kettl's at UW-Madison, and i very much enjoyed his class. I can honestly say that it was impossible to determine where he stood politically from his teaching, which is a huge credit to him. I found this book very informative. It was quite interesting to learn more about our current president. Dr. Kettl hits the nail right on the head when he...

1.0 out of 5 stars Team Bush Redux
One can only wonder whether Kettl still believes in team Bush, or whether he'd write this kind of loving book today. As Col Wilkerson wrote in the LA Times this week, Bush foreign policy was hijacked by "a secretive, little-known cabal" that hated dissent.

According to Maureen Dowd's summary in today's NYTimes, Wilderson said the cabal was headed by Mr...

I can honestly say that it was impossible to determine where he stood politically from his teaching, which is a huge credit to him. I found this book very informative. It was quite interesting to learn more about our current president. Dr. Kettl hits the nail right on the head when he says that G.W. is someone who is consistently underestimated. I enjoyed this book very much!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Look at our President, July 24, 2003

This review is from: Team Bush : Leadership Lessons from the Bush White House (Hardcover)
This book provides an in-depth look at the Bush administration and more importantly Bush himself. Kettl says that Bush likes to be underestimated so that he oculd prove everyone wrong. Each chapter is a leadership quality that the Bush administration has done well with and at the end of each chapter is a list of lessons that one in the business world could take and use in the office or school etc...This is a quick read and insightful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never mind that negative review!, December 24, 2003

This review is from: Team Bush : Leadership Lessons from the Bush White House (Hardcover)
This is a great book about a great President. In many ways I can identify with Pres. Bush. Like him I was born into wealth. Like him I was a mediocre student who 'partied' and was wild with the young ladies. It was only after numerous arrests for indescristions which my dad bailed me out was I able to find Jesus and the right path. Then my dad bought me a real estate business but that did not do well so his friends bought it from me for millions and then I bought another business. This time I bought some brains to run the business while I golfed with my frat boy friends. The business is thrifing thank to the numerous tax cuts intitiated by Pres. Bush. This is proof Team Bush is working for me!

1.0 out of 5 stars Team Bush Redux, October 26, 2005
This review is from: Team Bush : Leadership Lessons from the Bush White House (Hardcover)
One can only wonder whether Kettl still believes in team Bush, or whether he'd write this kind of loving book today. As Col Wilkerson wrote in the LA Times this week, Bush foreign policy was hijacked by "a secretive, little-known cabal" that hated dissent.

According to Maureen Dowd's summary in today's NYTimes, Wilderson said the cabal was headed by Mr. Cheney, "a vice president who speaks only to Rush Limbaugh and assembled military forces," and Donald Rumsfeld, "a secretary of defense presiding over the death by a thousand cuts of our overstretched armed forces."

"I believe that the decisions of this cabal were sometimes made with the full and witting support of the president and sometimes with something less," Colonel Wilkerson wrote. "More often than not, then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice was simply steamrolled by this cabal."

Team Bush? Kettl should withdraw the book, or perhaps bring out a paperback version titled "Cabal Bush."

1.0 out of 5 stars Superficial and merely fawning, April 27, 2003
This review is from: Team Bush : Leadership Lessons from the Bush White House (Hardcover)
I found this book to be the equivalent of a teen magazine puff piece. The tone can only be described as "fawning" and it misses all the hard questions-what do you DO with the qualities you have, and where do your decisions take you? The only real information to be gleaned from this is that the president lets his associates do most of his thinking, and that tidbit is available in better form elsewhere.
