About the Author

The late Peter Warr, who died in October 2010, had two spells of management with Team Lotus: 1969-76 and 1981-89. After Colin Chapman died in December 1982, he became the team's boss and in the years that followed his drivers included Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna.

I dugged into my copy as soon as it arrived yesterday. Trust me, this book is a must for all F1 fans' library, and it definitely is that missing link in my collection of published Lotus materials. Firstly, the book is not long on photos, for which there are plenty afloat within other publications. However, if the reader, like I was, in search of the real inner workings within the walls of Lotus prior to its current resurgence, Peter Warr has fulfilled this void by his words of experiences, length of services, and variety of duties at Lotus. I must say the focus of the title Team Lotus is on the word Team. No one escaped the author's sensitive deliverance here, from A.C.B. Chapman down to 'Brian the Broom', everyone mattered. There are hints of negatives and dark sides here, but the writer clearly not out to pen a work of 'airing dirty laundries', but disclosed his understanding of every role endured by members of a racing team. The only disappointment I have is how the author totally understated his own contributions, by design I am sure. Credit must goes to Simon Taylor as well. All too sadly, Peter Warr left us before the book's completion, Simon stepped in and did a masterful job of pulling Peter's papers together, giving us a very readable and informative piece of work.

first of all, have access to the opinions of someone who was so close to the top of the sport for so many years in itself would be worth. But the clarity with which Warr exposes his views is a pleasant surprise. Particularly interesting the chapters about mechanics and engineers and even with respect to the drivers I would say that got information that hadn't from other readings.

Iam a dedicated and serius fan of F1..My first live GP was Spain GP 1986 at Jerez...and as a gift from GOD..Ayrton Senna, our sport heroe won it over another greatly admired driver..Nigel M..On my way to Jerez, I met a very inside guy of LOTUS..Kenny Zymansky..what a train trip..talking about our pasion..finally, we shared 4 days at the Jerez 4 stars Hotel..Kenny introduce the whole Lotus team of that time..except Senna who always was at the other hotel with the Jet Set..coming to the J hotel to sleep..I have the Lotus page of the race program with all the signatures of the team..minus Ayrton..I spoke more than 1 hour with Mr. Warr and that great engineeer G. Ducarouge..unforgetable moments..and THIS BOOK is a vivid history of those years..including that season ..many, many anecdotes from the man hinself..SIMPLY..every F1 fan NEED to buy this small but valuable book.

Lovely book. The stories flow fast and nice, it's full of details. Certainly, Peter Warr has a lot to say about the things he saw, and knew, from his times at Lotus. And you get the sense that nothing was kept secret in the book, it's very honest and outspoken.

The chapter dedicated to the drivers was incredibly interesting. Specially his views about Mansell.

I loved it, it's very well put together, and the contribution made by Simon Taylor deserves some credit: he finished the book after Peter passed away and did a brilliant job.

I fInished it in a jiffy, enjoying it from start to finish. Would recomend it to any F1 fan.

Very entertaining read, Peter gives a great insite on the F1 happenings back in the day. Enjoyed feelings of working with the many drivers he worked with. Interesting he confirms the hassles of working with Mansell, the genius of Senna, a different side of Bernie etc. If you're a F1 fan, you won't be disappointed.
