Whether it's a lost ticket, a broken toy, or a legendary mermaid captured long ago, math heroes Milli, Geo, and Bot are dedicated to using their mighty powers to help solve the problems of Umi City kids. Animated siblings Milli and Geo and their robot friend Bot have special math talents--among them a pattern-shifting dress, pigtails that can be used for measuring, the ability to build anything with a variety of shapes, and a belly screen that warns of trouble and shows pictures that can be used as blueprints. With the help of Umi friend viewers, the crew utilize their skills in counting, pattern making, shape recognition, and the concept of more and less to follow clues, find missing items, and piece together shapes to make almost anything. Each 22-minute program features a combination of bright CGI animation and real-life kids. Young viewers have lots of opportunities to interact with the onscreen characters and develop math skills like counting forward and backward from 10, recognizing shapes, completing patterns, and even comparing weights and reading a schedule. Lots of fun, pop-inspired songs accompany the action, and positive reinforcement is plentiful. Bonus features include a simple, interactive Blue Mermaid Shapes Under the Sea game in which kids pick out specific shapes and find the shape that is different from the others. Three animated meet-the-character music videos round out the extras. (Ages 2 to 7) --Tami Horiuchi
