Kay is quilt designer I've only met on the Internet, and I was thrilled to buy a copy of 'Teapots to Applique' hot off the press! It turned out to be a great book which even exceeded my high expections. Kay's teapots are whimsical, elegant, original, traditional-but-with-a-twist. Each is eye candy---an unusual handle here, a quirky lid there, or an absolutely fantastic novelty fabric. Best of all, these projects can be very simple to complete ---it's easy to imagine doing just one of these blocks as an ultra-fast wallhanging gift.

Kay takes readers through every step, with reference information that beginning as well as advanced quilters will find helpful. The book has some of the best diagrams I've seen showing how to hand-applique sharp points. (Machine quilting, and/or use of fusible, are also options).

You can follow her designs faithfully, but if you're like me, you'll be inspired to try your hand at personalizing these teapots, mixing and matching parts of her designs, and using your own special fabrics. There are many color photos to get the creative juices flowing.

Kay's style is breezy, fun, and above all, clear. I recommend this book without hesitaiton, for inspiration, information, and fast results!

Whether you make a pillow top, wall hanging or a quilt, these teapots are so lovely. I am making them with metallic cotton fabric and appliquing them onto a white 12" square. By varying the lids, handles or spouts from the main teapot, you create a beautiful block. A great book and the Applique Teapot #2 book has even more ideas and is also a great addition to your quilting library.
