Due to an ongoing war between the nighttime varmint and I, I am frequently reassessing the fate of the swimming pool. In previous years I'd ride my luck, then throw it way after the night on which I lost. And eventually buy a new pool next year.

Not this year though. The varmints struck on the first night of the new (and perfect pool). Instead of giving up, I ordered this tear repair. It works perfectly. Its a bit easier to apply than duct tape, and seems to hold well. The only patch that's leaked was my first that had a wrinkle that went over both a hole and the edge. In that case I was able to peal the old patch off and put a new one on that worked fine. I rather suspect I could have reused the old patch, but I didn't think of it at the time.

The critters have mistaken the pool for chewing gum again, and I've run out! Though the pool has patches everywhere, you can't see them from a distance, especially not with all the squealing kids running around!

Maybe I'll just take up new repair kits every year, and save the same old pool!

I bought this tape as well as the sister product "A" to repair a rip in a pop up tent. The rip was about a foot long and right at the seam where the fabric, screen and vinyl window all came together right by the door. Now, one of these tapes is for vinyl and the other is for everything else so the problem was how to make them work in this situation. I managed to do it by overlapping the tape that works on everything else onto the tape that works on vinyl. As I'm writing this, I don't know which is which. What I do know is it has held and repaired a foot long tear. Because the tape is clear, it is not as ugly as it could be. It's not invisible, but it does the job in a apot that I thought would be impossible to fix. I'm very, very pleased with this product. Because it stretches once it is applied, it is holding and I believe it will hold for some time to come.

After reading all the very positive reviews on this product, [[ASIN:B000RNY72M Tear-Aid Roll Vinyl (B)], I felt it would be the one to help me repair some bad spots in my aging spa cover, made of vinyl. Let me also say that I fully understand the variables that can and do affect the adhesion of a product like this. I used to sell labels of all types and varieties. The product failed completely on my vinyl cover. I would not adhere even though the temperature was well within the suggested range and I did clean the surface per instructions, but to no avail. I even attempted a low amount of heat on the product but it still would not adhere. I suspect that at least part of the problem may have been that the vinyl I was using it on was aged and weathered, being fairly dried out. But just so you know before you order, planning to make a repair on some older outdoor vinyl product, you might want to give it a second thought before you spend the $25 like I did for a roll of the stuff, with no warranty.

The tear aid quickly took to the air mattress and I was able to re-inflate shortly after application.

I actually purchased this item twice. The first time I cleaned my top with soap/water & let it dry before applying and the tape didn't stick to the vinyl. I assumed I did something wrong by using soap, so I ordered it again. The second time I used the enclosed alcohol pad, to prep the vinyl, it still did not stick. It could be me, could be the product. But I'm 0/2 using the Type B "made for vinyl" product, so I think it's the product.

I've tried lots of tapes to repair my Vinyl hottub cover. This is simply unmatched. It stays stuck down. It's slightly stretchy so it adapts to tugging. And it has a clear matt finish so it's not glossy. It almost disappears like magic transparent tape does. Not quite but much more than shiny tapes do. The next best tape for repairing vinyl is the 3M patch tape. That stuff costs about 1/10th as much as this. But it is not even close to this in the quality of the repair or durability.

The main four features that are totally worth your money are:
1) the glue does not get gooey in the sun. If you already tried Duct tape you know what I mean and are regretting it and reading this review.
2) it does not loosen when it gets wet. If you already tried packing tape or the 3M patch tape you know what I mean and are reading this review
3) it stays stuck and is flexible so when the reapired item flexes (it is vinyl) it does not peel up.
4) it's very very tenaciously bonded yet quite strong and durable material.

No other tape I know of has those properties.

Now if you are going to have huge sheer forces on this it might stretch too much. But other than that thus is simply an unmatched wonder product and totally worth it's price.

I balked a buying it the first time around and tired everything else that was much cheaper.

THe only problem I had with it was that once you pull the backing up this stuff is really thin and flexible, you can get it stuck to itself really quickly and have to start over. it sticks way too well to itself to unpeel it.

I used Tear-Aid to repair a 4-foot long tear at the base of our 8,000 gallon above-ground pool and it's worked FABulously. Better than the other 2 products that I have used in previous years (we made the tear the first year we owned the pool). This product is easier to work with and bonds so well! This repair had to be at the seam where the wall of the pool meets the floor, so it's at a right angle and it curves around the circumference. We put some on the inside and the outside and it withstands the pressure of all that water. I highly recommend this product!
