Ricky Peterson is not one I expect to get 100% of what I want.
I didn't care for tracks 2,3,8&10 because I don't care for the ballads.
I liked Jdarling because it was up tempo with a good beat;Mr. Williams,
in spite of it's slow pace, was a decent instrumental that kept my
interest, harmonica by Howard Levy an unusual element;Funny Little World
though a vocal was pleasant, guitar fills by Jim Behringer;Feel So Bad gets
top rating due to funkiness, lead&back vocals top notch plus Robben Ford on
guitar. It moves into that crankin' gospel funk like you hear from Joe Pace.
Thumbs&Fingers up!!! Holding Back The Years is one of those texture-filled
vocal tracks with a great chorus melody, mysterious captivating environment
and then you get to hear one of the funkiest sax players in jazz solo-Brandon
Fields but Lenny Castro's perc really helps make the environment;EJ-here's
your funk instrumental with some great B-3 and more of Brandon Fields funky
sax. Paul Peterson handles bass and wah wah guitar for the album with Michael
Bland competently in charge of drums. This track alone is enough for me to buy
the album.

Ricky Peterson is one of the great genius's in the "get down, funk, jazz, tighten your stomach muscles", music scene. I have never been disappointed. On a desert island give me Ricky, Flim and BB's Grusins NY/LA Dream Band and I'll be OK. However, this albus is a little sappy and musically uninspiring. But it is still worth having especially if you are trying to thaw out a girl friend or you have a $2000 stereo system.

If in St. Paul don't miss Ricky's club the "Artist Quarter"

But, I have to admit this is one of those albums which I'll put away and pick it up a year or two from now and play it and say, "wow what was I thinking".

Neither rock, nor blues, not contemporary jazz. This is a kind of sticky-sweet music that leaves no impression. The recording is neither aggressive nor clam. This is no feeling music.
Quality of recording is good, but the music itself is not appealing.
