Man, I miss bands like this!,

If you missed out on these guys back in the day and can appreciate good, hard driving chord-based hard rock, then take a chance and go for this. If you dig old Dokken, XYZ, and Hurricane, then you will probably appreciate the fun contained on this disc. I think these guys were way underrated. Trust me, great guitar!

1990's Tear the House Down was the debut (and only) release from Hollywood (by way of Minneapolis) hair metal band Hericane Alice. Similar to Baton Rouge, Hericane Alice's sound treads a fine line between the polished melodic rock of Dokken and the raunch & roll of L.A. Guns. This kind of 80's style party rock isn't anything new, but Hericane Alice does it well. There are plenty of shout-along rock anthems (Shake, Shake, Shout is my favorite), and Too Late is a better than average power ballad. The band stuck pretty close to the hair metal formula, but what they lack in originality they make up for with an energetic performance. It's a good album overall, but at this point Tear the House Down is really only going to be of interest to serious 80's rock fans. NOTE: Wounded Bird reissued Tear the House Down in 2008. Like all Wounded Bird reissues, it has not been digitally remastered, nor does it have any bonus material. It's great to see this forgotten album back in print, but if you already own the 1990 version there's no need to replace it.

Rocks hard,
This review is from: Tear the House Down (Audio Cassette)
I had not really heard much about Hericane Alice when I first saw their Young Wild and Crazy video on Launchcast. After that I knew I had to get their album. Tear The House Down rocks hard. Songs like Young Wild and Crazy, Shake Shake Shout, Tear The House Down, and Turn The Heat up should have got tons of radio play and sold millions of copies of this album. The musicianship on this album is just unbeatable. Lead singer Bruce Naumann, which I believe is how you spell his name, is simply unbelievable. Bruce ranks right up their with the best singers like Mark Slaughter, CJ Snare, and Steve Whitemen. It is a shame that by 1990 most people didn't really care any more about Hair Metal and as a coincidence this poor selling album spelled their doom.

"Tear the House down" is the second album by American glam metal band "Hericane Alice" originally released in 1990, this particular version is a 2008 reissue by "Wounded Bird Records". The line up features future "Bangalore Choir" members bassist Ian Mayo and drummer Jackie Ramos along with guitarist Danny Gill and lead singer Bruce Naumann."Hericane Alice" bare a similar sound to such late `80s glam metal bands as "Heavens Edge" and "Slaughter"; in particular Naumann sounds very similar to Mark Slaughter, particularly during the more melodic moments on "Tear the house down". For that matter, "Hericane Alice" attempt to balance the outrageousness of up-beat glam metal with melodic hard rock and to a fair extent they succeed. Songs like "Wild Young and Crazy", "Bad to Love", "Tear the house down", "Shake, Shake, Shout" are riff driven glam metal tunes and somewhat predictable at that. On the other hand, the more melodic moments like "Badboy Breakout", "Need a lover", "Too Late" and the dramatic power-ballad "I walk alone" prove far superior to the rest of the material on "Tear the house down" bringing to front memorable choruses, clever instrumentations and brilliant lead guitar work by Danny Gill. This particular re-issue features the original 10-track album without any extras or liner notes, while there is also no evidence of the album being re-mastered from the original CD version. Overall, "Tear Down the House" is a quality glam metal album which should appeal to fans of "Slaughter", "Heaven's Edge", "Vinnie Vincent's Invasion" and "Bangalore Choir".

Another great band from the glam rock age. Hericane Alice single release of Tear the House Down does that indeed. This bandfits right in with XYZ and Lynch Mob but also shows some signs of maybe heading in the direction of Wildside and Childs Play Id love to see where that tranisition would have eventually taken alot of our favorites, had it not been for the grunge explosion. My favorite rocker here is probably Crank The Heat Up. I picked this cd up in my local retro music store and I would say that if you can find it today and you dont have it grab it before they are all gone or priced too high. If your a 80s rock fan grab ahold of all these gems you can tomorrow may be too late, and this is one that definetly belongs in that collection. I'm the TNROCKDOC and I guarantee it !

2.5 out of five stars. I liked dream girl a lot, the rest is a lot of filler. Not a terrible album as I have definitely heard worse from this era but there is better stuff out there to try.

A very underrated band from the late 80's, these guys rock. A must have if you dig 80's hair metal/glam rock.
