About the Author

I, too, am a typical Indiana country boy. I attribute a lot of my creative imagination from being raised in the country. I spent many of my childhood days playing in the corn fields and wooded ravines which surrounded my home pretending to be a cowboy, fighting Indians or an Army man, trying to recapture a hill from the enemy. Today I live in the suburbs outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. Between my beautiful wife and I, we have four wonderful kids; one mine, two hers, and one ours. When I'm not at the office Monday through Friday doing my daytime job (vice president of a large construction company), you will find me at the gym working out; attending my youngest son's tae kwon do. basketball events or in front of the computer writing. If you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you that my true passion is sailing. Sailing is not an activity, it's an expression of art. It's caputuring one of nature's elements (wind) momentarily to cause a reaction to an inanimate object (boat). If you don't know what I'm talking about, you have never experienced the beauty of sailing.

Before leaving on a recent Vacation I stopped by my local bookstore and picked up a copy of Scott Sweeny's new book "The Tears of Mary". By the time I reached my destination 2 days later I had finished the book. Loved the book, the story, the plot, the suspense etc. I am a John Grisham fan, have read all of his books, "The Tears of Mary" provided me with all the pleasure, intrigue and intensity of any of the Grisham novels. I look forward to the next Sweeny book and would highly recommend it. Nice work.

While I've read many great books, this one sets it apart by being one of the most memorable, I believe it's written from the old school of fantastic gripping mystery/suspense writing. It is all beyond good and is definitely one of my favorite books.

We have a hero, Austin Brock, a navy seal, who comes to the breathtakingly beautiful Ireland to complete a mission, together with an ensemble cast of the most amazingly twisted, quirky, mysterious characters ever to grace the kindle page. I was constantly at the edge of my seat, it's an easy read yet the complexity of the plot made it impossible for me to put it down. Some scenes are one heart-pounding detail at a time, if you like something that'll keep you turning the pages but make you smile at times or shiver with disturbance, this is just the book for you. The uniqueness of the plot and the characters will keep you suspended in awe, the journey itself was the focus of the story, and what a strange, trippy journey it was. The destination was pretty crazy, too, If you have an open mind and can lose yourself in a tale of the weird and supernatural, then you'll enjoy this book as much as I did. This is worth the read, the ability of the author to create such an imaginative tale filled with mystery and some spooky occurrences that is hard to explain, and yet it would make you question if this is really just a work of fiction, or maybe there's some truth to all the mystical powers that was so compelling it'll make you believe. It's a rare find, this book really reminded me how good suspense and science fiction can be, a must read for all.

One favorite quote:

"Each one of us has the ability to control our own destiny by listening to our heart...Go live life and listen to your heart!"

I am willing to give self-published writers a try, but you make it hard to forgive the tissue-paper-thin characters and unbelievable dialogue when you assault me on every other page with typos, misspellings and grammar and punctuation errors. If you are going to ask people to shell out money for your book, you should hold off publishing it until you can shell out a few bucks yourself for an editor (the dinning room? your faith was week?). Good heavens, man, at least have the common courtesy to hit the spellcheck button! When you confuse discrete and discreet, at least both of them are words, but "disserted" for deserted? Seriously?
