Worth the Wait,
This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second book in the Gallahers series. It is set in Ireland, in the little town of Ardmore where the Gallaghers have run the popular pub for 5 generations. This story features the second Gallagher, Shawn, who is a musician, composer, cook, and dreamer and Brenna O'Toole. Shawn moved into Faery Cottage, with it's resident ghost, when Jude moved into the main Gallagher residence. Brenna O'Toole is the family friend and has grown up with the Gallaghers. She has always harbored a love for Shawn, and decides to do something about it in her usual pushy way. Their relationship changes drastically, and Carrick, Prince of the Faeries, is actively involved in getting them to resolve their differences into love. Brenna, of course, pushes Shawn too far, but he finally reveals some backbone and everything is worked out at the end. This is a wonderful, warm and sometimes funny story, with the beauty of Ireland and the Irish lovingly portrayed. I personally liked Jewels of the Sun a little more than this one, as Brenna's character rubbed me wrong, overall the characters were pure Nora Roberts magic. Well worth the wait! I hope Heart of the Sea comes out soon.

Brilliant second Gallagher book!,

This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nora does not disappoint - this is the second story in the Gallagher siblings trilogy, wonderfully begun with Jewels of the Sun.Here, Shawn Gallagher, the cook for the Gallagher pub, writes songs and idly lives with little thought to the future, or to his lifelong friend Brenna. Brenna, however, has been giving thought to Shawn for a long time. In fact, she wants more then the friendship they've had all along and lets him know it, much to Shawn's shock. Carrick, Prince of the Faeries, encourages Shawn in hopes that this romance will make it for the 2 out of 3 that he needs in order to get his own happy ending. We get to revisit Aidan and Jude from Jewels of the Sun, and Shawn's sister Darcy, who is scheduled for her own romance in Heart of the Sea, the last Gallagher book. I absolutely loved this book, reading a "sibling" book by Nora is just about the most fun there is. Her characters are well drawn, her heroines strong, her heroes nurturing. She's done it again!

Tears of the Moon,
This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Once again Nora Roberts has charmed me with her storytelling! The 2nd of a trilogy, "Tears of the Moon" was a wonderful book! I love the way Nora includes some location history. Plus, Shawn and Brenna are brought to life and I felt as if they were real. I read very few romances that make me laugh at loud, and that is the beauty of this book(and the 1st of this trilogy)! There is only one other romance author that does that to me, and that is Jayne Ann Krantz. Brenna and Shawn find each other, but not w/o the help of Lady Gwen and Prince Carrick and the rest of Ardmore. If you have not read Nora Roberts before then you are truly missing out! I finished the book within a day, and am anxiously awaiting the 3rd in the trilogy. It probably helped that after I read the 1st, Jewels of the Sun, my husband and I went to Ireland and stopped in Ardmore for a night so I could indulge myself and see the pub, the round tower, and St Declan's well. Nora was right when she said that there is "magic and music in the air".

The Magic of Ireland,
This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This second book, Tears of the Moon, in Nora Roberts' Irish Trilogy is every bit as wonderful as the first, Jewels of the Sun. The characters, of course, are the same but the focus has shifted to Brenna O'Toole that feisty handy-woman and Shawn Gallagher the dreamer song writer who works at the Gallaghers family-owned pub as the cook. The magical legend of the beautiful ghost that lives in the cottage Shawn now inhabits continues. But Shawn doesn't see her, Brenna does, and she receives a message from this beautiful ghost about Shawn's music. A message she doesn't fully understand. Shawn, however, meets and talks with Carrick, prince of the faeries, who gives him a pearl and some advice that Shawn decides he isn't going to take. When Brenna decides to take matters into her own hands and seduce Shawn, he is completely thrown by this development, even though he discovers his (previously unknown to him) passion for her. Shawn finally recognizes his musical talent and finds someone who is anxious to publish his work. The beautiful descriptions of Ireland in the book make you want to visit this enchanted place and maybe meet a faery there as well. The next, and last, book in the trilogy will focus on Darcy, the Gallagher's independent and beautiful sister. Eagerly awaiting "Heart of the Sea".

Simply Wonderful,
This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was such a wonderful read! As with all of Ms Roberts' books, this one was full of lovable characters and alot of emotion. I loved the first book in the series and the second even more. Shawn and Brenna's story is one I will remember for a long time and probably go back to again and again. I also love the supernatural additions of Prince Carrick and Lady Gwen in both books. Their love story is beautiful and heartbreaking. I cannot wait until the third installment to see what happens with Darcy and with Prince Carrick and Lady Gwen.

Well worth the wait,

This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved "Jewels of the Sun", the first book in this new trilogy, and so it was with eager anticipation that I awaited the June 30th release of this 2nd installment. "Tears of the Moon" was well worth the wait! In this tale, we get Shawn Gallagher's story. Shawn, the 2nd Gallagher son, is a musician and a dreamer by nature, and a cook in the family's pub by profession. Perfectly content with his life as it is, Shawn has no plans to make any major changes -- which includes any long-lasting romantic entanglements or making a career off his brilliant music. Mary Brenna O'Toole has been Shawn's sister Darcy's best friend since childhood, and they've seen each other almost every day as far back as either can remember. Brenna's feelings for Shawn have been leaning toward the romantic for some time now, and as Brenna is a "doer" and not a dreamer, she decides to act upon them. "Tears of the Moon" is a wonderful, romantic tale of the changes that inevitably take place when lifelong friends become lovers. There are conflicts of heart and mind, fear of losing the comfortable, easy relationship already in place, and yet great anticipation that things could be even better. It's also about accepting love that's offered, flaws and all. Shawn and Brenna take their sweet time accepting each other, which makes the book a deliciously fast read as you race through to get to the point where they DO accept each other. Last but not least, the other star of this book is Ireland itself, and as I've said in previous reviews, Ms. Roberts ought to receive kickbacks from the Irish tourism board. I certainly can't wait to travel there and go hunting off the beaten path for a charming village like Ardmore, where the cliffs meet the sea and there's always a friendly face to greet you in the local pub. I'm eagerly awaiting Darcy's story in "Heart of the Sea". I expect she'll get her man. :)

EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT IRISH, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SERIES!,
This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved "Jewels of the Sun," the first installment in this Irish trilogy. "Tears of the Moon" does not lessen the pace of this continuing story. In fact, I found it to be even better. Nora Roberts draws her readers right into the heart of her story. Her characters are so well-developed that, in this instance, the Gallaghers and the O'Tooles began to seem like members of my own family. I felt a need to help resolve the conflicts between Brenna and Shawn, the young lovers. I wanted to ease Mary Kate's feelings of jealousy and betrayal. I felt Mollie's and Mick's parental concerns. Having learned to love the Gallaghers through the romance of Aidan and Jude, reading this book was like a visit with beloved relatives after months of absence. I am already looking forward to "Heart of the Sea," to learn what happens between Darcy and Trevor. The "teaser" chapter from "Heart of the Sea" at the end of the book was just enough to whet my appetite for more. I am torn between wanting this series to continue indefinitely (with perhaps a story featuring each inhabitant of the lovely little village of Ardmore) and the desire to end the curse of the centuries-old estrangement of Lady Gwen and Prince Carrick and bring their suffering to a close. Lady Gwen and Prince Carrick add just the right amount of magic and mystery for which the Irish are so well-known. Norah Roberts' descriptions of Ardmore and surrounding countryside makes Ireland come alive in these books and makes her readers feel as if they've been there . Being of Irish extraction, it makes me "homesick" even though I've never had the pleasure of actually visiting there. BRING ON "HEART OF THE SEA! "

Tears of The Moon,
This review is from: Tears of the Moon (Irish Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a loyal reader of Nora Roberts and was not surprised that this book was so emotional. I discovered this talanted author about a year ago and to date have read over 100 of her novels. This one; however, was by far the best so far. I laughed and I cried and was up all night so that I could finish it. This novel is the second in her irish jewel series. It focuses on the curse of a fairy god and his mortal love. This book focuses on the second Gallager child and his found love in his life long friend Mary Brenna O'Toole. He is a cook at the family pub and she is the small town's handy woman. This book will have you wanting to read it over and over again and wishing that she would print the final book. If you have not read the first one I would recommend it ("Jewels of the Sun"), although like alot of her series it is not nessasary to read them in order. But I PROMISE you that after reading this you will want to either read the first one or reread it.

Once again Nora Robert's has written another triology making us wish the book would never end.Shawn Gallagher is a dreamer, also a songwriter and works in his Irish pub,and he thinks of Brenna O Toole a his friend and nothing more until Lady Gwen resident ghost of his cottage and her former lover Garrick weave magic folklore and spellbinding dreams to bring the long lost souls to believe in love.I am glad to see Adain and Jude in this novel& can't wait for the 3rd series to see what happens to their sister Darcy. Ardmore is a place I wish was real so that i might go there and visit for I know I would feel at home there with the haunting myths and Irish folklore, too bad it isn't real but I can at least visit it Nora Robert's books where characters are so real you almost feel you can speak and touch them. Once again as with all her books this one is a keeper. If you love Nora Robert's you will love Tears of The Moon.

For those of you familiar w/Nora Roberts, I don't have to explain how enjoyable her books are, but I do want to say that this most recent trilogy is turning out to be one of her best. "Tears of the Moon" is the 2nd book in the trilogy & if you haven't already read "Jewels of the Sun" then please do so now & then read this one. Both books are fabulous - filled w/love & magic & the most interesting of characters."Tears" revolves around Brenna (a pretty, independent, strong woman, who can wield a hammer better than most men and acts almost as fast as she thinks) and Shawn (a beautiful dreamer who can cook & make magic with his music & who takes years to act upon almost everyting). Though these two have known each other for years, it is only now that their mutual attraction is coming to the fore front & when it does it is magic. The love scenes between these two will have you sighing out loud. NR writes a story of love & family, of magic & passion & of a land that has plenty of all. I can't wait for the 3rd book - Heart of the Sea - to be released. In the meantime, enjoy this one. |
