5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone Will Love This..., October 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaser & Firecat (Audio CD)
Though not a Cat Stevens follower, this album is absolutely incredible. Anyone and everyone who listens to it will be touched in some way. It is unfortunate that to many, he is still an undiscovered jewel. Cat Stevens is a soulful songwriter who graces us with a soothing voice. A blessing to music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guilty Pleasure of a Twenty Something, June 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaser & Firecat (Audio CD)
The Beach and a dark apartment, dank and thrown about like a buoy in a storm. This cd played all night over and over until it infused with the moment and became the repetitive soundtrack for a time long past. That was my first experience with Cat Stevens. And I can't imagine appreciating him without that moment. Very sappy, melodramatic and at times just silly. But beutifully representative of a time that will never again be. That's what I think most people of any age hear when they listen to Cat Stevens. Another time, another place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get This Album!, April 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaser & Firecat (Audio CD)
If you haven't replaced your old vinyl album, do it now. If you have never heard it, get this CD. If "Moonshadow" leaves you limp, listen to "If I Laugh" and "How Can I Tell You." And who would believe that Cat can sing in Greek ("Rubylove"). It's a "must have" I recommend to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cat is timeless, February 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaser & Firecat (Audio CD)
Some music you get sick of, some you can listen to over and over and still find new things. After 25 years of listening to this album, I still find it fresh and wonderful. Cat was a genius and his music will endure. I love the mix of upbeat and mellow on this album. Tuesday's Dead, Bitterblue, If I Laugh, right on down to the overplayed Peace Train are all Cat in his finest period. No serious collector should be without this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars The second of Cat Stevens two finest albums, August 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaser And The Firecat (Audio CD)
When music is absorbed with a passion early in life, it cannot be stripped or worn off by time. Such, I suppose, is my fate. Though I haven't listened to this album in years, by choice - I can still reproduce every sound and vocal nuance of every song in my mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Written From The Soul, March 7, 2000

Its rare that these days, artists write music from the heart and soul. Usually todays musicians write music that fits a pre-set formula(which usuallu involves a hip-hop beat) to get played on MTV.

This record was recorded back in the seventies when music was honest and natural. Sort of like Chocolate Chip Cookies. The Wind while short in length, delivers a good message about lsitening to your true voice. If I Laugh deals with human emotions and dreams. Morning Has Broken paints such a beautiful picture of life complimented by gorgeous piano runs. I could go on and on but this is a nice recording that will make you think about life in simple ways that are not often thought about in this hectic world that we live in.

5.0 out of 5 stars whole wheat flour and carob chip cookies, September 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaser & Firecat (Audio CD)
This album came out when I was five and it never left my older sisters' (and parents) turntable. I just bought it and its not leaving mine. Its a complete flashback to those awfull carob and whole wheat chocolate chip cookies of the early 70's, I'm in heaven. Oh and if your into the whole Elephant 6 / Neutral Milk Hotel scene, forget about the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds as an influence, this is it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every song matters, every song is excellent..his best ever!!, July 23, 2005
This review is from: Teaser & Firecat (Audio CD)
I got this cd when it was first released because of "Morning has broken", one of the most beatiful songs and a big hit many years ago. But, to my taste, "How can i tell you" is the best SONG here. It is beatifully played, very delicate and moving singing by Cat Stevens. It is a song, that should be a classic and if someday a singer with good taste can redone it, i hope could be a smash, so the entire world can hear this song. Also great ones are "Changes" (a song that has been covered by other artists), and of course Moonshadow and Peace Train.
"Teaser and the Firecat" finds Cat Stevens at the high of his artistic powers and inspiration. Alun Davies was Cat Stevens guitar player and also his musical partner (but he never got credited). He died many years ago, and he recorded a couple of solo albums that are still waiting for release. Very sad.

5.0 out of 5 stars He can't escape....., September 25, 2004
This review is from: Teaser & Firecat (Audio CD)
Although I respect fully Yusuf Islam just the way he is now, I can't get over the fact that CAT STEVENS recorded this album. Ok, it was many years ago, but it is one of the greatest. There is no escaping the fact that this man recorded this album. He can call himself whatever he chooses...the spirit is still there, whatever he chooses to call himself.

This is a fantastic album.

Enjoy it, with every space of your soul.
