Book Description

LINKEDIN, FACEBOOK, EMAIL, CHAT, VIDEO-CHAT, SKYPE, TWEETING, TEXTING, SMART PHONES....

Can you operate successfully in this new technological world? Do people always understand the message that you are trying to get across? Have you posted pictures which you regret? Do you get nasty looks sent your way while you are talking or texting on your cell phone? Do you know the proper way to send emails for business vs. personal?

We live in a technological world where people stand in line for hours waiting to purchase the newest I-Phones or I-Pads. People are busy texting in their cars, on public transportation, and even walking on the sidewalk. No one sits in an office waiting for an appointment anymore without being totally immersed in their smart phone or tablet.

Communication has become so technologically based, that some experts believe there is a decline in social skills, especially among younger people. There are certain ways that we need to learn how to communicate using technology that gets our message across clearly, and is not misinterpreted.

This book addresses how we communicate via text, email, phone, video chat, tweet, or using any social network. There are more and more people finding that they have insulted someone, or that their message was misinterpreted. This book is filled with Tips and guidelines to help improve your communication skills, while whisking through the technological world.

Check out the complete Social Media Directory Listed at the end of the book, complete with each one's purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great guideline for all! July 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Really a great guideline for today's world. I think we've all experienced many of the situations personally and had to learn by the trial and error method. Would be a great 'hand out' at business conferences, employee handbooks, school orientations, etc to bring the world up to speed and to avoid lessons hard learned! Etiquette/awareness shouldn't be left behind by technology!

It is an absolute must read for our digital environment that we spend our time in. Dr. Travis reminds us that there are real people at the other end of our favorite devices and educates us that there should always be proper manners, no matter what form of communication we utilize.

If you've been using computers & other smart devices, you are likely to Know most of this, but still worth the read as a reminder of how to use these technologies and more importantly, what NOT to do. Thanks for all the valuable information in one place. Good job!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Primer For Those Out Of The Loop February 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I suspect older technology users, those who feel slightly overwhelmed with services like Facebook, Twitter, and other social media, will find this book useful. We have rushed ahead making use of these new communication mediums while the social graces that should accompany them are struggling to catch up. If you are wondering what these social graces are in this brave new world this book is a great starting point. I'm not sure if younger users, those who grew up with these things, need it as much. However even they would likely benefit from it, if only to be reminded how to use these mediums to talk with us older folks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another helpful contribution from Dr. T! January 13, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
Another common sense approach to something that impacts most of us, electronic communication. Since electronic communication plays such an important role in today's world it's important that we know how to use it courteously. Dr. T gives us no-nonsense pointers and helpful hints for how to use cell phones and email courteously like adults. Misuse of cell phones and email is rampant, I hope people read this helpful guide to learning how to use electronic communication more gently.
