Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Smartville playsets are clever electronic toys that, on their surface, don't look like electronic toys. They're colorful plastic with cute characters that engage a toddlers' imagination and tickle their fancy. Switch it on, and the playset comes alive with light-up buttons, songs, and encouraging words. This Musical Band Stand teaches kids how music is created. Onstage is a cello that makes a strumming sound with a sliding switch and a plastic snare drum that lets kids tap along to the beat of "The Yellow Rose of Texas." The playset also includes a variation of "Knick Knack Paddywack" and other tunes. The pieces are big, smooth, colorful and are easy for little hands to grab and hold. The playset has a built-in "hotspot," which is a slot that characters and some props fit into that causes the playset to identify it or otherwise react with phrases like, "Let's sing!" Parents will be glad to know that playset has two volume settings and an off switch. An auto shut off feature conserves batteries when children wander away without switching it off. Inside the box you'll find the playset, three characters, a music stand, a xylophone, and a ticket booth. Our only complaint is that the top-heavy ticket booth is difficult to stand upright. --Porter B. Hall

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL toy, March 19, 2007

My son got this as a Christmas gift from his aunt when he was 15 months and it was his favorite gift. He still loves it at almost 20 months old. He loves that it plays music and that it talks and has animals. Sometimes he plays with just the music stand and sometimes he carries around just the animals. This toy doesn't take up a lot of space and it is inexpensive and a fun time.

We bought this for my son last Christmas when he was 13 months. He had no interest in it at all. I thought maybe it as because it was a little old for him, but a year later he could still care less. It will be joining the rest of Smartville in my next yard sale.

My kids weren't very interested in this toy. I thought it was cute at first but the shape of the microphone leaves the adults feeling very uncomfortable to touch it due to its shape. Do you see what I mean? Zoom on in!
