Smartville playsets are clever electronic toys that, on their surface, don't look like electronic toys. They're colorful plastic with cute characters that engage a toddler's imagination and tickles their fancy. Switch it on, and the playset comes alive with light-up buttons, songs, and encouraging words. This Safe & Sound Fire Station teaches kids about safety. It features big, smooth, colorful pieces that are easy for little hands to grab and hold. The playset has a built-in "hotspot," which is a slot kids can plug characters and some props into to hear the set identify it by name or otherwise react with other phrases, such as "Dial 911. We're here to help." The set has an emergency chute with a button trigger at the bottom, though pieces don't fall with enough force to set it off. Parents will be glad to know that the playset has two volume settings and an off switch. An auto shut off feature conserves batteries when children wander away and forget to turn it off. My son received the smartville ice cream shop for his first bday. he played with it all the time. We bought him the rest of the set for christmas. This is definitely his favorite toy. He is 15 months now and he plays with this set almost all day long. This is one of the best things I could have bought for him. He understands how it works by placing the characters on the round spots. I feel it will be a great teaching tool for when he is ready to learn the alphabet and his numbers.

This toy was purchased as a Christmas gift for a 1 year old girl. She took to it immediately, enjoying the figures, noises, colors, and moving pics. It entertains her for quite a bit before she moves on to her other muses. I am glad I purchased it for her.

My son who is 18 months now loves this toy. I got this for him when he was 3 months old. He loves pressing buttons and lights that light up. My son even used the little figures to teeth. Probably not a good thing...
