Many people like the extreme protection of the iBand, but frowned upon the loss of use of buttons due to the fact that the case provided sock absorption TOO well. Tech21 heard these reviews and has responded with the newer version of the iBand with cut-outs for the buttons. We are working with them to possibly create new UPC's and/or MPN's in order to create a separate listing, but until then, the newer version is available through "mygearstore"

Also...for people that don't like the fact that the back is exposed to scratches, know that Tech21 is coming out with a hard case with the same d3o technology that also covers the back of your iPhone!

hi, i got the V2 and i don't see any issues with this softcase; the only possible problem is its a little thicker than other cases, but then thats the protection that you would want

all the complaints that people had with the access to buttons were resolved because those sections are now cut-out; users have direct access to those buttons

i guess sales might increase if people selling this actually took the time to take NEW PHOTOS...

but i wanted to let everyone know that the button issue on the sides are now resolved...

After watching the video of this product it looked like just what I was looking for to add an extra layer of protection to my iPhone. (I already have a Zagg Invisible Shield on the phone to prevent scratching.) The video shows this product to be soft until it make contact with something which lead me to believe that I would be able to use the volume keys, the power key and most importantly, the key to switch the phone from ring to vibrate while it was in the case. Unfortunately the case is not at all soft and the outlines on the case for the functions key are just that, they not at all usable. As someone who spends a lot of time in meetings and needs the ability to quickly turn the ringer off this is not going to work for me as the only way to do it is to remove the phone from the case.

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to write one for this. I've been tracking this product since i saw it featured on engadget. I purchased it from the UK because at the time it wasn't available in the US. I love it. You still need a screen guard and while I prefer glossy guards, in this case, matt works best. I literally have thrown my iphone against a brick wall, alcohol may have been involved I won't confirm or deny this. It works like a champ. It's not indestructible. The back still get some scratches and if it lands on a rock or something thicker than the case your phone will be damaged. Overall, this material rocks and this case is my favorite. I hate bulky cases; i bought a thin phone for a reason, who wants thick plastic cases. Also, while I do like the rubberized cases, it's hard to put it in your pocket, and if you have to pull it out while your driving, your swerving all over the road like a drunk on new year's eve.

I don't understand all the negative feedback. Everyone does realize this is the iBand V2, emphasize VERSION 2, not 1. You have access to all the button and ports.

I absolutely love this case. The look is unique and the feel is great. The look as amazing, I haven't seen any other cases look anywhere near as unique and awesome as this case. Moreover, with other soft cases they wiggle, move and do not feel a part of the phone. The iBand V2 feels like part of the phone, it never moves or feels disconnected. I have not dropped my phone, and I am not planning to until it happens by accident, but the videos online speak for themselves. Everyday people taking these cases with their iPhone's and chucking them at walls, across gravel driveways, down concrete stairs, phone survives them all with no scratches or cracks. Also what is great about this case is it goes in and out of your pocket relatively easy in comparison to silicon cases. Yes, it doesn't go in and out of your pocket as say, your phone with no case, or a hard plastic case, but it's not difficult either, also, hard cases are very weak and protect poorly. I have had ABSOLUTELY no complaints with this case. And lets just face it, you want to be hip and unique, and this is a damn sexy case.

With all that said in mind, it is only $30 bucks, and protects -from what I've seen- as good as the HUGE, bulky, unattractive, and plastic $80 dollar Otterbox Defender case, so it's really a no brainer. Another thing to think about; Zagg now offers a complete wrap around (front/back) invisibleSHIELD for iPhone's. I just have the screen guard but I'm thinking to get that to protect the back, even though I haven't scratched the phone yet, doesn't mean I wont ever, that's why we get cases, right?

I bought this product because I was too afraid of breaking my iphone by dropping it.

Well, it happened, my iphone felt off a height of about 1 meter, and it's still working, no harm at all.

You have full access to all controls, no problem with that.

It's a bit large, but it fits ok in my pocket.

i bought this item like many of us after look at the incredible feats this band can do, but the reality of it is its protect only but not practical as i have no access to my buttons unless i press on the buttons for the On/Off and Volume buttons very hard, or take out the iBand to toggle the silent switch, only way to make it practical was to have a cutout for the toggle switch for silent mode and insert a piece of plastic in the insides for the On/Off and volume buttons(even then its not 100% working properly, the buttons precision is not there), i would recommend everyone to check out XtremeMac's Microshield Accent, it has all the practicalities and also comes with screen protector and back transparent impact plastic cover and its gorgeous...

After receiving my iBand case I immediately removed my Iphone from the Otter protective case that it had been in for over a year. I wanted to replace that because although indestructible it is very big and bulky. No more than 6 hours after my Iphone is in the new iBand case my phone fell out of my pocket onto the floor of a carpeted restaurant. I picked up my Iphone to find the front screen shattered like that of a windshield. The Iphone's last fall was as innocuous as any other landing on one of it's corners that the iBand was protecting. I would not recommend this product to ANYONE! Keep your Otter protective cases because they actually work!

This has to be a manufacturing goof, not to have cut out the impressions for mute, volume up & down and off/on. Recommend against purchasing this product until these problems are solved.

The case might be durable and protect your phone but if you cant turn the phone on/off, silence the phone, or change the volume whats the point of having an iphone? I looked forward to trying this case out after watching the videos and throwing my phone across the room or basically knowing that when I drop my phone it will live to see another day. luckily I only bought one. I wanted to get one for my whole family since I thought it was a usable and practical case from the product video. Putting on the case was difficult since the case doesnt give much. We thought there had to be something we did wrong when putting it on but there is not much to the shell. The case doesn't give and is not flexible like you would think from the product video. Bottom line I took it off after 20 minutes and gave it away. The person I gave it to had also seen the video and was excited to try it out. I got the case back and no one is using it because its not usable.

I am currently using the otter box. Its big but usable. It gives good protection but my car charger didn't fit. Only the apple adapter fits in the plastic.
