4.0 out of 5 stars Feature-laden and Rather Accurate
I'm a recreational runner. This 2010 Accelerator has some unique features. First, without using GPS, it will rather accurately measures your distance and speed -- and without the little thingie attached to your shoe! Doing a few 5K and 10K runs, it's accurate with 5-10/100ths of a mile. In fact, the watch has a walk setting and a run setting, and you can do both, and it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for the price
I wanted a very basic watch to track lap times for my exercise runs and 10Ks. I was intrigued by the watch's accelerometer to measure distance. But mostly, I wanted something simple with a very clear display. I've had the watch for a little over a month and so far, it's just average. In fact, the watch has a walk setting and a run setting, and you can do both, and it will still record very close to the correct distance.
The screens are rather intuitive- just press the Esc/Light button to get to any screen, then cycle through the screens with the two buttons on the right. Finally, you select what you want with the Mode button. What you cannot figure out, just call the 800 number and an employee will quickly and cheerfully talk you through what you need.
If you just walk for fitness, or like to go out running in new terrain, and want to know your distance (and your speed + lots of other information), for the price, this watch cannot be beat.

I wanted a very basic watch to track lap times for my exercise runs and 10Ks. I was intrigued by the watch's accelerometer to measure distance. But mostly, I wanted something simple with a very clear display. I've had the watch for a little over a month and so far, it's just average. The display is REALLY hard to read when you're running since it's a bubble instead of a flat screen. And it's plastic so it can fog up. Not really happy about that. And the menu is very non-intuitive so you have to do more button pushes than normal just to move between the Time and Chrono features. All in all, I regret not buying a simpler Timex Ironman but I'm ok with this watch for the price ($48)

Great product. Researched all watches like this and found this one with the best quality and price. Calibrated it and very easy to use and accurate. Was exactly what I wanted and is easy to program and use. Would recommend this product to anyone wanting to track their walk/run mileage.

Great purchase! I ordered this watch while deployed to Iraq and it arrived in less than 10 days! I was amazed at how simple the transaction was, considering the vast distance the item had to travel. This item is extremely intuitive and is a decent looking exercise watch too! I have put this watch through many, many miles and it has performed greatly!

This is my second Tech 4) 0 I primarily got it because of the Pedometer which is 100% accurate. It may read over if you shake your hand a lot or under if you don't walk naturally and swing your arm naturally.

The watch is a bit complicated to figure out, but it is great. Tech support is wonderful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing!! Glare on Domed Crystal Makes the Watch Very Hard to Read., September 22, 2010

I bought this watch primarily for its pedometer function -- both for running and for walking around town. I can't really comment on its functionality because I find the display very poorly designed. At most angles, both outdoors and indoors, under bright light and under more diffuse light (e.g., an overcast day), there is an enormous amount of glare on the watch crystal -- making the display hard to read. I find I have to continuously rotate my wrist to try to find an angle that minimizes the glare. I assume this glare is the result of their using a "domed" crystal -- and perhaps choosing a material for that crystal that adds to, rather than minimizes the glare.

I understand the watch is inexpensive (I paid just over $40); but both Timex and Casio (among others) don't seem to have a problem making their digital displays legible in watches at this price range.

I've had the watch for a couple of days -- I'm still deciding whether or not to live with this annoying drawback.

Yes, it takes time to learn how to use the watch but it's worth it. The instuctions that come with it are a bit hard to figure out. But the watch works very well.

I did lots of research before purchasing this watch. Sure I'd love a top of the line Garmin watch, but I'm just running to stay in shape and don't need to spend that kind of money. The Tech4O worked out well for me and at a great price. Sure, the directions are limited, but after playing with it for a while its easy to use. Its quite accurate and displays all the info I need when running. I also really considered the Nike+ Sportsband as I would like to trak my running data on the Nike website, but I went with the Tech4O because it has a backlight and the Nike+ Sportsband does not. Since I run at night, that was a deal breaker. I think this is a great deal for the money and will be able to use the savings toward the next improved watch/pedometer that comes out next year.

So far, so good for this watch. Have only used the chronograph mode mainly. Have used the pedometer mode a little but still need to get my stride distance for more accurate distance and speed calculations. But so far am very happy with the watch and is a great deal at the price! Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 due to limited use of running with so far, so don't know exactly how good it is, but seems like it will be very good.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to see display, July 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tech4o Men's Accelerator Carbon Fitness - Watch (Carbon) (Sports)
I'd like to say this is a great sport watch. However it is so hard to see the display that it was just not easy for me to find out. I wear bifocals, and unless the light is directly on the watch or I view it with the back light on in the dark its very hard to read. The face is very glossy and this causes a lot of glare. The wrist band is small for a mans watch. It was tight on me and I don't consider myself the have a large wrist. Since it is so hard for me to read I am not able to comment on its features. So,if ease of reading the display is important, I'd look elseware.
