My unit arrived with no damage, unlike other customers. Perhaps Techcraft/Amazon have been learning from previous experiences.

Installation wasn't hard and I was able to put it together in ~2.5 hours on my own. The shipped package that the unit arrives in is quite heavy (~100 lbs). I opened it up in my foyer and took the pieces in. Certain individual pieces can be heavy too (~10-15 lbs). The assembly steps are ok; they just tell you how to the pieces connect together. However, as I was alone, some steps did require some creativity e.g. when I had to align to larger pieces to bolt them together, one had to be a few inches off the ground. I propped it up with some coffee table books. Such tips would be very useful in the assembly manual.

Pros:
- Good solid unit, with good finish.
- The top surface doesn't scratch easily. That's important when you're placing/adjusting a large flat-screen TV on top of it. I do my assembly alone and can't lift the TV continuously. Its easier to shuffle it step by step on top. I haven't scratched the top-surface yet.
- Spacious but not a huge unit.
- I wanted a unit with doors to keep our baby away from the electronics :-). There aren't too many units in the market with doors. The doors do have tempered glass.

Things to watch out for:
- When you assemble the units, you need to attach thin vertical boards to the back which are black and mostly cover the wall or stuff behind. They do have holes to run cables from your components, but they are somewhat small. In my case, it wasn't possible to wire up my receiver through such small holes and I cut a wider opening. I guess the size of the holes are a trade-off; too large and one would be able to see the wall behind the unit on shelves that are empty. The board is thin and its easy to break sections off. But a cleaner/elegant solution for flexible hole sizing would be nice.
- The unit is heavy, especially with all the components/TV in it. So figure out the final spot for the unit and then put things in.

Package arrived right on time. Upon assembling found I had two left pieces. Instructions clearly gave website and phone number to manufacturer for parts issues. I used the website and the next day was informed the piece had been shipped via FEDEX. Process was simple.

Saw the same unit at a local store and found it cheaper at Amazon.

We looked everywhere for the perfect TV stand for our new TV and finally found this one at a department store at the mall. We waited a few weeks for it to go on sale while we kept trying to find something comparable and found nothing nearly as nice. As we were about to buy it, we found out that the black one was not on sale and they would not match the sale price from the wood-colored one. Disappointed, we decided to look on that store's website to confirm it wasn't a pricing error. Thank God we went online because we ended up buying it from Amazon.com and saved $100! It took a while to receive but it was definitely worth the wait. Everything arrived perfectly and I put it together in a few hours. It's the perfect combination of classy, practical, modern, beautiful, and safe for the little ones. Not to mention it fit all of our electronic components as if the designers knew everything we wanted to put in it. I don't want to overuse the word "perfect" but we just love it so much there's no better word to describe it. It compliments our nice new TV along with everything inside of it. If you are someone with great taste and are looking for the ideal TV stand then the Techcraft SWBL48 will absolutely satisfy your search!

I haven't assembled packaged furniture in years, but this assembly went perfectly! I did the assembly by myself in two phases, since I wanted to do the basic tv components set up before I did the doors. Took about two hours for the first part, and under two for the doors. This taking my time, and spending some minutes getting the door hinges perfect. I am totally impressed with the engineering that went into this product, making assembly of a sturdy, attractive product using primarily drawing instructions.
The final test: my wife was happy with the appearance, and even the smooth operation of the doors.
I highly recommend this product.

We needed a stand for the new Plasma TV we were purchasing, so I opted for this Tech Craft stand. We already owned a component cabinet from Tech Craft, and have been very pleased with the quality. We were also happy the ease of putting it together once received. As with the component cabinet, the TV stand was very easy to put together. The black color is the same for both the component cabinet we purchased almost 5 years ago, and this new TV stand. There's plenty of venting in the back so the a/v equipment it holds won't get too hot. My only complaint was the length of time it took to receive it, but I was not aware it would come from PA and we are in AZ.

I was unsure what to expect as the reviews appeared to be "excellent" or "disappointed". I received it fully intact. Not on time but intact. And the fact that it arrived last was due to the horrible winter storm covering the country. I watched the news showing the truck containing my shipment disabled on the road. So of course I expected it to be shredded from the trip. All contents were fine. The box had seen better days but the packaging saved it. I was also expecting a lengthy assembly time since I was on my own to get it put together. However, I was able to get it all done in about 3 1/2 to 4 hrs. That time includes having to start over once because I managed to get it backwards. This is reflective of the less than perfect instructions. I was pleased that in a little less than 5 hours I was able to get the cabinet assembled, the 47" TV together an on the cabinet ready to go. Getting the doors set and aligned was a tad frustrating but I suppose that would be the case no matter the cabinet. And you should only need to do that once. All-in-all a GREAT product. I am VERY pleased with the size, the appearance, and the functionality.

Product arrived intact with all pieces. Installation was very straight forward (very few steps, and not that many pieces), and took about 1.5 hours. Fortunately, the predrilled holes lined up perfectly which is uncommon for most of the self-assembled furniture I've purchased in the past. Unit looks great, and is pretty sturdy. I have absolutely no complaints.

I was very pleased with the product, assembly and buying experience. Everything went together as planned. The quality of the cabinet for the price is quite high.

My husband and I bought this for our new 42 inch flat screen tv. It came with no hassles or delays--although the box is very heavy. The delivery man actually dropped it on our patio because it slipped out of his grip! No parts were broken, not even the glass so that speaks to the better packaging and sturdiness of the materials as compared to others retailers at times. Now that it is all set up it looks great--I do have to dust it frequently, but hey, it's black. It fits our xbox and wii and DVD player and other gaming supplies without a problem--no more unsightly wires everywhere! The only issue was putting it together but I think it had more to do with the fact that neither my husband or I are particularly gifted in that area. It definitely took us over three hours--but at one point we put a whole piece on backwards and then we discovered our electric screwdriver doesn't work. Screwing everything in manually got a little brutal. So we stopped halfway thru, went to dinner, came back and finished the set up. We were enjoying it later that evening and are still enjoying a month later.

This arrived in a timely manner and without any damages. It took my husband less than two hours to completely assemble it. There is lot's of storage inside the cabinet and there is no problem using remote controls when the doors are closed (the signal goes thru the glass doors just fine). I looked at a lot of stands in retail stores before buying this one that Amazon offered. The quality is good and the overall appearance is very attractive. The finish is a very nice smooth black with a slight sheen to it. For the money, this is hard to beat.
