I ordered this 60" Wide Flat Panel Hiboy from Amazon when it was sold and shipped directly from Amazon. I chose this item based on the reviews here and the photos of it. We've searched for a long time to find the right unit for us.

The unit arrived in 3 days. Remarkable service by Amazon. However, the unit is not well packaged. The top piece has a smashed corner, and the box is damaged in the same place. There is no cushioning, protective packaging for the corners of this furniture piece, so nothing protects it if dropped in shipping.

So we've had it for one day now. Unfortunately the piece that is damaged is the largest and most difficult part to get to in the packaging. We hoped that the manufacturer, Techcraft, would agree to replace just the piece that is damaged. They have a form on their website to request just such a remedy. I'm waiting to hear from them if they will just send us a new top piece.

However, Amazon is in the way of all these reparations. According to Amazon customer service, from a supervisor in Panama, the only recourse we have is to have a whole new unit shipped to us; and we have to repackage and send back the ENTIRE unit as a return. This is unnecessary hassle and inconvenience to us as customers, and very lazy customer service by Amazon. Amazon could work with us and Techcraft to have that single piece replaced for us (it's even numbered as a separate replaceable part), so that we would only have to send that part back as a return. Amazon is refusing to do this, insisting we must jump through all these inconvenient hoops to get a new unit that may possibly be damaged in shipping, too.

Techcraft will very likely be most willing to replace just the part that was damaged. But Amazon is requiring that we send the whole unit back, and will charge us for the replacement if we don't send the whole order back. So we will be unable to take Techcraft up on any offer to send us a replacement part.

I like that Amazon sent the unit to us so quickly, and with free shipping. But the furniture piece is heavy and unwieldy and will be difficult to put all back into the box to return. Likely the rest of the unit will get scratched or damaged by our amateur furniture packaging. This doesn't make sense that Amazon won't work with us and the manufacturer to get us that single piece replaced that we need.

The Hiboy is now being shipped and sold by a third party. Apparently they are the ones who will be sending us our new replacement unit. I am very unhappy with this whole experience with Amazon. I will never buy a large piece of furniture from Amazon again.


UPDATE: Okay, so we contacted Amazon and they sent a complete replacement unit, pronto. We got it today, 9/13, and it was in WORSE condition than the first item they sent to us. This box was tattered and disheveled, like it had really been abused in shipment. We had it delivered to our personal address at the local UPS Store, which is our delivery address. The manager there advised us to not accept the shipment, as it was so evident the inside contents would be very damaged.

So, Amazon, we're sending this one back, not as a "return" (needing a return label), but as a REFUSED shipment. Please send us another one as a replacement for THIS one, which is a replacement for the original order which was damaged in shipping. The packaging on this item is just shockingly inadequate.
In the meantime, TechCraft quickly agreed to send us just a replacement for the damaged cabinet top. So we're expecting that next.

Beware of ordering this unit. It's a beautiful tv console stand, but the shipping is so careless and haphazard, you may not get what you pay for!

After reading the reviews on this product I was a bit concerned on what the shipment would look like on arrival. From the first look it appears the shipper has made a few adjustments that are working. First there were hard cardboard angles supports attached to each outer edge of the box. They looked like they took some hits but did their job. Upon opening the box my concerns were dispelled as several inches of hard Styrofoam surrounded the edges of the box and additional protective material around each piece. Needles to say, there were no bumps or scratches.

I would agree with the others that the coloring is much darker, but my wife and I think it makes the furniture look even better. We are very happy with the look now that it is setup.

I looked at hundreds of TV stands before deciding on this one and I could'nt be happier or more pleased with the way this stand has fit in to my home theater system. It is exactly what I needed for the components I had planned to use and its a beautiful piece of furniture as well!!! My system looks as good as it sounds and it looks and sounds unbelievable !!

I looked a long time for just the right TV stand for my Samsung 67" HL67A750 and this one looked like exactly what I wanted. Brown, walnut, with a somewhat Mission style to it. Actual width of my TV is around 60" and it looks like it was perfectly matched for this TV stand. I was a little worried the stand would be on the flimsy side, but I was surprised at just how sturdy it is. The top piece in particular is very heavy, very solid. Construction was relatively easy and when all was said and done the unit feels tight and durable. I am extremely satisfied with the 60" Wide Flat Panel Hiboy made my Techcraft.

When I received the shipment, the box was pretty messed up, but like a similiar review the parts were in perfect condition. There was however, two missing parts. I contacted Techcraft and they sent me the two adjustable legs, a must have as they are in the first main step of construction. I'm looking at it now after putting it together, it took approximately one hour, and it's a fine piece of furniture, very heavy and expensive looking. I recommend this product highly.

excellent entertainment stand and very sturdy. We use a 55 inch TV on this stand. I am telling ya, it is perfect for it. The height of it and plenty room to put your dvd player, sound booster, Wii console and games/movies! You wont be sorry for this one! Thanks!

After reading the reviews for the Hiboy I realized this was exactly what I was looking for. It was easy to assemble and I was impressed with its fine quality. I did a lot of shopping at furniture places and I always felt the quality did not match their prices. I can say that my patience paid off because the Hiboy is a perfect fit for my family.

We looked at many entertainment consoles for our new TV--went to the furniture stores, department stores, etc. Most were over-priced, poorly-constructed, or just didn't have the features we were looking for. We liked this model because of the glass doors; we weren't sure how we were going to configure our components like DVD, DVR, etc. The glass doors gave us the option of setting up our components as we wanted them. I am very impressed with the construction and sturdiness of the piece. Not to mention the look of it in our living room! We have received lots of compliments from family & friends--they couldn't believe we purchased it on Amazon. I did see this item on other no-name websites, but didn't feel confident enough buying from them. We know Amazon and are familiar with the return policy, etc. When it arrived, the box was a little dishelved looking, but the pieces were not damaged whatsoever. My husband put it together by himself within a couple of hours. Very happy with our purchase!!

After reading others' reviews about the shipping difficulties with the Techcraft Bay6028 TV stand we really had our doubts about ordering it. There seemed to be so many shipping problems, and SO many people reported the item arriving damaged that we thought it may be more trouble than it was worth. But it was the nicest unit we saw in the price range (which, by the way, dropped $30 in the 5 days between finding the piece and actually purchasing it). So, in order to try to avoid the item arriving damaged, I called Amazon ahead of time to see if there was anything I could do to avoid any complications. I spoke to "Leo". He was in Malaysia I believe. He assured me that they would check the unit for damages before shipping it out. Whether or not this was done ( doubt it - it came factory packaged), I cannot say. However, I can say that the item was received in perfect condition. The box was gashed, so I did expect that there would be damage. But no, it really was perfect. We have not assembled it yet, so I cannot speak to the ease or difficulty of that process. But I must say we were very surprised and pleased with the way the unit arrived. I will also say that many of the pieces are laminated. However, the important pieces (the doors, etc.) appear to be solid wood and are lovely. Also, beware - the color is MUCH darker than is pictured. The picture looks like cherry. It is not that color. It is most definitely a walnut color so if you are looking for that cherry look, my suggestion would be to not buy this piece. So I'm hoping this helps those of you who are sitting on the fence with regard to this unit.

This was delivered with no damage due to extra packaging protection by the manufacturer. It's a nice deep, dark oak brown color. Assembly took one person about 3 hours. The stand is very sturdy and solid after assembly. Kudos for having plastic protectors on the leg bottoms to protect my wooden floor. The cutouts are wide enough for my system's wires and heat dissipation. Bewared of the thin veneer - it gets scratched and chipped easily.
