Book Description

Technical analysis is taught at investment banks around the world, and is used by nearly all professional traders to determine optimal price entry and exit points. It is a very practical topic at heart.

Part 1 of this GIUP Handbook series provides:

• A solid introduction into the fundamentals underlying technical analysis, explaining the use of this theory, in a step-by-step manner towards placing real trades, and revealing why it is used professionally, not necessary as a prediction tool, but as a cornerstone in prudent risk management.

• Coverage of the three most common chart types and how to use them effectively.

• A detailed exposition covering the concepts of support, resistance and trendlines, explaining how they form and what that actually means for your trading, as well as how to make trades using these most fundamental and important concepts.

• The confidence of understanding support, resistance and trendlines inside-out, because more advanced concepts rely on a deep understanding of the price-action mechanics underlying them.

• Coverage of trend channels and ranging price action, the reasons why break-outs occur, and a discussion of how to spot them and trade them.

• A rigorous understanding of the implications of trading with and against the trend.

• A discussion about applying the concepts learnt and making trades, with three FULL TRADE EXAMPLES.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good for entry level. September 21, 2013

Good for entry level. It applies to equity and commodity trading. Examples and diagrams are plenty. Systematic design for real usage would be better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste money, or your time September 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Unfortunately, this book does almost nothing for someone looking to really understand technical analysis. The information is very simplistic, and could almost have easily been gathered from a financial dictionary, or a page on Wikipedia. The book is very short, and definitely does not give the reader any solid grounding, and will leave the reader basically clueless. If you knew nothing about currency trading for example, you would be reading through and wondering "What the heck are pips that they are talking about". The author(s) do not explain this, nor do they seem to provide any context.

A more advanced book is mentioned, and would definitely be needed. Do not waste your time - get a proper book that will not leave you severely dissatisfied.
