Our apartment had bad smells in the kitchen and bedroom when we moved in. We cleaned it really well and shampooed the carpets to eliminate any possible sources, but the smell still remained (although milder). We hoped these bulbs would eliminate the smells, but having put one in each room and running them all day, it doesn't seem like they did anything. I went out to the grocery store a few days later and bought this thing called Citrus Magic [...] and it knocked the smell out fast. It didn't just cover it up, either. It's a solid air freshener that supposedly absorbs odors and also leaves a citrus smell. I'd reccomend that over these more expensive bulbs which don't seem to do anything.

I found these bulbs for $4 each clearance. You can get a 2 pack at one of the online stores for the same price with shipping included. It's way, way overpriced here. Check a site called Watt busters or even Home Depot!

We have 2 bearded dragons in a cage and you could smell them immediately upon entering the house. I purchased one of these bulbs after seeing a review in BH&G and I cannot believe how well it works. The smell is totally gone but I know it is still there because we can instantly smell them once we turn the light off for an extended period of time, say 2 days. I believe this last bulb lasted 5 years with turning it on every day (we turn it off at night so they can sleep). I cannot say enough about it and have recommended it to several friends who have reptiles.

We purchased 2 of these bulbs for our basement fixtures. After reading the instructions, we made sure to install them in fixtures that allowed the bulb to be exposed to the basement air. We have 7 cats and 4 litter boxes. Even after we clean the litter boxes, it will smell. We installed these 2 bulbs in the basement in the litter box area. Within 24 hours or running and litter boxes that hadn't been changed in 5 days, the basement had no odor. This is an incredible product! we will be buying more.
