Product Description

Technical Pro knows that studio equipment and mobile DJ equipment requires a lot of power. It is very easy to quickly run out of power outlets for your gear. Power distribution and power drops are a very important aspect to designing your studio and mobile rig. Power drops are the amount of power you are using for any given wall outlet or power supply unit. It’s important to understand what you need and also feel secure that your power supply will not fail. The PSB9 1U Rack Mount Power Supply from Technical Pro is the perfect choice for all of you power supply needs! The PSB9 fits into any standard rack…your mobile rack OR your studio racks. The unit can handle a total load of 1800 watts. The back panel has 9 120V 3-prong plug sockets. On the front you will find on/off switches for each of the 9 inputs. Each power switch is illuminated in blue. This is very useful in knowing which sockets are on or off…one fast look to the front panel and you see which power switches are lit up or dimmed. If you are not using a particular socket just switch it off and save power while still being able to power the other sockets. Also located on the front panel is dependable 15A replaceable fuse housing. Connect the PSB9 to a power outlet by using the 6 foot high load power cord. If you are setting up a broadcast or recording studio use the PSB9 and properly distribute your power drops. If you are a mobile DJ or performer connect up your mobile rig and when you arrive at your venue you only need to worry about finding one power outlet! No more messy wires or extension cords! The PSB9 is a great choice for your power needs in your studio or while on the road. You can connect your audio, video and lighting equipment. Easily switch on/off your entire set up. And last but most definitely not least, FEEL SECURE that you have the correct power connections to properly power your gear.

ASSEMBLY: Although I am disappointed that I had to assemble the rack mount ears, doing so was not a major undertaking. MOUNTING IN RACK BAY: With rack mount ears attached, the unit is too wide to fit properly inside a rack bay--holes in rack mount ears do not align with standard rack rails. In order for the unit to coexist with rack mounted equipment positioned immediately underneath the unit, I had to use pliers to remove the unit's feet to achieve the proper height. LIGHTS: The blue lights do not illuminate at the same intensity--a few are brighter than others. SURGE PROTECTION: This unit does not offer surge protection; therefore, I configured the unit to interoperate with a separate surge protected power conditioner.

I am using it for a home Cisco CCNA lab. Works great and I kind of like the blue light glow over the red ones. The USB charging port is a nice touch. Nice heavy cord on it.

This is not actually 1U! Like another Technical Pro model (but not all) this PDU has feet that cannot be removed without opening the unit as well as screws on the bottom that are not countersunk. The top has countersunk screws... go figure - made in China and probably not properly supervised by the engineering staff.

The picture omits this major flaw, I'd go so far as saying it is misleading/of a different version of the product. Can't attest to how good this is to use, as it doesn't fit in my rack. Other Technical Pro products are decent quality for the money.

I contacted Technical Pro and will see if they can do anything to get me the unit in the photo instead of just returning this to Amazon. Will update this review when I hear back. Hopefully they will change this design in future revisions, as personally I find blue buttons more appealing than red, which seems to be the only other color on the market (unless you go to networked/smart PDUs which are 10x as expensive).

I bought two of these switch boxes, one for each of my equipment rack, I used
them for the first time last night, and they pretty much do what they were made to do.
However - - - as others have said, they are kinda flimsy. They are weak compared to my
American DJ switch boxes.
Note: one of the switches had something rolling around inside of the box, it sounded like a broken
piece of metal, wire or maybe even solder.

It does what it advertises just fine, except it might not fit in your rack if you don't have a little extra clearance (not 1U, has feet, boo). It doesn't surge protect, but it's a fine power distribution unit and works well for that. The blue LEDs are being supplied with too much power though, after a few weeks the switches that I've kept flipped on have gotten so dim they're almost completely burned out. So don't expect it to stay pretty / give you visual feedback.

Took it out of the box, powered it up and ...

- One switch (#5) lights, but sometimes doesn't send power to the outlet.
- Another outlet (#8) works, but the switch doesn't light.

Might be something simple, but the big sticker across the cover says, "Warranty void if opened." Tried calling the company at 10:15AM (their time) on a Monday: Customer Support, Sales, and Tech Support all ring 10-12x, then go to voice mail.

Sent it back to Amazon, who made the return process easy. Thanks, Amazon!

I didn't get this for it's intended purpose, and first thing I did was void the warranty after I plugged it in a seen that it worked fine LOL

I needed it for my Arduino aquarium controller build, I added an 8 channel relay system to it that will be controlled by my Arduino, and with the added 5v charger built in, it was perfect to power my relay board too....

it seems to be a good quality construction but the internal wiring was a bit smallish for the advertised 15 amp in my opinion, it had circuit boards connected to the array of outlets and switches, both had to be removed for my intended upgrade, I also added much larger wiring which was overkill as my relays are only rated for 10 amps LOL...

if I had bought this for it's intended purpose, I might never have looked inside to see what was in there and it could have worked just fine as is so I can't complain about it for any reason, it served it's purpose for me...love the blue lighted switches too :)
