The most authoritative text for technical mathematics is now better than ever! Completely revised and updated, this new edition of a classic best seller provides the algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric concepts essential to solving problems commonly encountered in technical and trade occupations. Technical Shop Mathematics begins with a review of arithmetic followed by elements of measurement, algebra, graphing, geometry, and introductory trigonometry. Clearly written practical explanations, problem solving techniques, examples, and exercises are provided throughout with emphasis placed on applications—making it an ideal textbook for lecture courses or a resource for guided self-paced study. It has become a standard on-the-job reference for shop professionals.
  • Contains a larger, easier to read two-color format with improved flow between topics.
  • Provides clear explanations that build on the strengths which have made this book a standard for more than 25 years.
  • Includes an introduction to Statistics which is needed for many technical trades and not offered in most similar texts.
  • Presents sufficient material for a very full one-semester course or for two standard lecture courses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comment on Previous Review, September 9, 2007
This review is from: Technical Shop Mathematics (Hardcover)
I would like to point out and emphasize that the previous review submitted by Jeffrey Butts is actually in reference to the SECOND EDITION. The third edition is completely revised, expanded, corrected, and much improved. Both editons of the book are available, but the third edition is definitely not the same as the second edition and is substantially better.

Excellent reference work. Lots of technical info. More than I needed for my purposes, but well written and organized.

2.0 out of 5 stars Technical Shop Mathematics, 2nd edition, August 23, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Although, I used this book for one of my math classes, and though I got an A-, I was very disopointed to find out by my teacher that that book contained a lot of errors. Either many of the problems just arn't workable or the answers in the back of the book were wrong. I think it's wierd that a college professor would write a math book on the stuff that he teaches and make so many mistakes, not to menchend the fact that the mistakes were missed by all the people who proof read it.
Abought the only things I did like about the book were the fact that it was hardcover, it was compact which made it easer to hold in my hands, it was cheaper than most other hardcover books, and many of the problems -that were workable - I only found in this book.
