21st Century Magical Mystery Tour,

This is a really fun & sexy concept album that's definitely best enjoyed by listening to is start to finish. One track flows perfectly into the next but the whole thing keeps shifting and changing, while staying connected somehow. It'll take you on an hour-long journey with some mind-altering scenery along the way and leave you for in an elevated and dreamy place. Perfect for my workout or commute! It's one of the best electronic dance music albums of 2009, but it's also without a doubt one of of the best albums of the year in any genre. And the artwork's amazing- love the mermaid and Scott's boots are hot.

I have been Hardkiss fan for many years now and, like many fans, have been waiting on this project to release for, oh i don't know, close to 5 years now is it? Or more? That being said I would say this album does deliver musically. It was a little different than what I expected but that can be a good thing. Most songs on here are instant classics, but there were a few that were just OK for me. It was definitely worth the purchase but I hope I don't have to wait another five years to hear more music from this artist.
This artist, with the help of some others such as Gavin Hardkiss, aka Hawke, truly are pioneers of a unique sound in electronic music and are talented enough to go in about any direction they want and it will be good. Like I said, worth the purchase but different from what I expected to hear, probably because of the length of time between albums. Maybe the long anticipation isn't always a good thing because the expectations for the music grow as the wait gets longer. Not my favorite release from this artist (guess I'm more old school Hardkiss fan) but I would still recommend it and it's a good soundtrack to finish the summer with.

"Scott Hardkiss" does not equal "God Within",
By 3m3rson (Massachusetts USA) - See all my reviews

Don't be confused. The legendary "Delusions of Grandeur" album released in 1995 (I was in college then) carried tracks by the artist God Within. This version of Scott Hardkiss (he has many aliases) does not appear on the 2009 release. Instead we get a new version of Scott that seems to have lost touch with his fan base and is making music for mass consumption or maybe just himself. I like a few songs. Most I skip over. It is now on the shelf gathering dust, while I wait for Gavin Hardkiss' upcoming release "Plus". Gavin has consistently evolved his sound over the last 15 years and I have grown with him. In the case of Scott it seems we have grown apart. I will give him a pass on this one though, given all the great music he's been a part of.
The most exciting thing about this release is the birth of the God Within label. Press releases state, "The label is preparing to re-issue Hardkiss' entire long-out-of-print back-catalog of classic CDs & vinyl." It would be fun to fill in the gaps of my Hardkiss collection instead of trawling the web for ripped mp3s. Let's just hope it doesn't take another decade to happen.
