I turned the voice off as you can't understand what it says and it was annoying.

I do like the oval shape compared to the round shape that is usually offered but I could not in good conscience recommend this item to anyone.
netranger
It worked beautifully for the first 10 times, and then it stopped, restarted when I tried it again, then died.

I absolutely LOVE this pressure cooker. I agree with the other reviews that the voice function is annoying. I got this for a Christmas present. I had never used a pressure cooker before. Since I received this one I use it 3-4 times a week and have yet to have a bad experience or something not come out right (knock on wood). I hope it does not die like someone else said theirs did.

I bought this item from a home shopping channel as well, and when the unit arrived, the 'sticker' (that's the cover for the controls) was half peeled up. I never could get it to stick down. As I was using this cooker, I see the non-stick finish scratches off really easily; just lining up the lid, to lock it down, damages the finish at the top. A friend of mine, who bought the same unit, had to return it because the handle broke off the first time she used it. The voice is terrible- I never could tell what it was saying, and always turned it off. I have discovered that I LOVE pressure cooking, and came on Amazon to find another one- but I would NOT recommend this one, to anybody! The reviews posted on the home shopping channel's site (starts with a Q) are terrible, as well.

I have had this pressure cooker for about 10 months and love it. I didn't read the reviews until after I had purchased it and I am a bit scared of it stopping, but, so far so good. The only challenge I have is locking the lid in place. You have to line it up perfectly in order for it to fit. I love the recipe book, "Cooking Under Pressure" that you can buy. Wonderful recipes and some of them our new favorites. Sorry others had problems with their cooker, but mine is holding up and I use it regularly.

This pressure cooker had a potentially injurious failure. It blew out it's floating locking valve and released a sudden spray of steam and hot water. Luckily, no one in my home was injured. This product now resides in the trash. This unit was purchased 09/16/2012 from QVC.

This pressure cooker was originally sold by a large home shopping channel. I purchased it when it was their special value in Sept. of '12. Customers gave this pressure cooker many horrible reviews on the shopping channel's website. In fact, within weeks, they'd stopped selling it. But, mine worked just fine & I was thrilled with it! The voice functionality was horrible, but that can be turned off. In fact, that shopping channel turned the voice off when they were demonstrating the pressure cooker - that's how bad it is.

I used the pressure cooker a bunch of times with great results. It worked well as a slow cooker too. I loved the lid - the easiest I've used in an electric pressure cooker. But, while I was making beef stew, the pressure cooker simply died. It shut down and and would not turn back on. (I've been using electric & stovetop pressure cookers for about 15 years & know how to use them.)

Considering my own experience & the reviews of other customers, I would definitely NOT recommend this pressure cooker. By the way, although it has the Technique label, it's actually a "Deni Keystone Manufacturing" pressure cooker.

Does what it is supposed to do, however, sometimes it is necessary to push down (not hold) on the lid to stop the steam from escaping. The telephone number for the warranty is always busy.

That a product can get hot enough to burn an insulated power cord, when the cord is running underneath the device, is scary. What kind of heat damage was that doing to my counter surface before the cord was ruined?
