5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read, November 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Techniques of Burglar Alarm Bypassing (52050) (Paperback)
Probably the best book I've seen on the subject from this point of view (bypassing). Very interesting even for the professional. Some strange omissions however such as electronics perhaps due to time of publication. However maybe because of this it remains fairly up to date. Should be read by anyone interested in the field.

3.0 out of 5 stars Principles of burglar alarm bypassing, March 18, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Techniques of Burglar Alarm Bypassing (52050) (Paperback)
A good book for anyone who wants to know the principles of burglar alarm bypassing, but it's not a great book for the person who wants to get all the technical stuff about all the different types of burglar alarm brands.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste you're money!, August 2, 2011
This review is from: Techniques of Burglar Alarm Bypassing (52050) (Paperback)
This book would be better titled "A Screenwriter's Guide to Burglar Alarm Bypassing". Many of the scenarios presented (remote controlled car with a video camera on top!?) seemed to be right out of a caper movie.

Written in 1990 this book is now 20 years old and badly out of date - you wouldn't buy a book on any other kind of technology that was 20 years old would you? I have been in the Alarm Industry since 1989 and most of the devices used now (acoustic glassbreak sensors, communications by cellular or IP) are not even imagined less mentioned in this book. Instead there is a preoccupation with mechanical switches and window foil both of which are unknown today.

The book could have also used a good editor as the writer's style cannot be described as concise. "Prolonged exposure at this stentorian level, will certainly cause permanent deafness."

If you are really interested in reading this - a few minutes with Google will probably find you a pdf you can preview to confirm it really isn't of much value.
