Instruction at the highest level,

This review is from: Techniques of Scott Robertson 1: Basic Perspective Form Drawing (DVD)
This is hands down the most important and best Instruction DVD that I own or have ever seen. It goes exhaustively into perspective, which means you'll be able to watch it over and over again until you can absorb the depth of what Scott is teaching. He is clear, He is concise, and He is a professional educator and designer, who knows exactly what he's talking about. You might also get Robertson's book How to Draw Cars the Hot Wheels Way as a companion to the DVD, as it helps illustrate the "drawthrough" technique.

Excellent resource for perspective drawing,

This review is from: Techniques of Scott Robertson 1: Basic Perspective Form Drawing (DVD)
I've always loved sketching and drawing. Most of my life I've drawn planes, cars, and space vehicles as a creative outlet and generally have done so in side view. in high school (20 years ago) I took a couple of drafting classes and they taught basic perspective drawing techniques, but as with many things you learn in high school, if you don't use it, you lose it. A couple of years ago I saw the Scott Robertson DVD series on the Gnomon Workshop site and purchased this, the first in the series, there. Since then I've watched it several times and I always pick up something new.
This DVD covers perspective sketching techniques and does it in a very accessible fashion. The pace is fast enough that there is an excellent amount of material during the 2 hours or so of the lesson. But it is slow enough for literally anybody to benefit, from those who are new to drawing/sketching including children and adults all the way to people who have been sketching for years but haven't received any instruction in perspective drawing. Some topics include: * 1, 2 and 3 point perspective drawing * Complex shape construction * Oval/circle drawing * Sketching warmup exercises * Forshortening * Freehand Drawing Techniques * Section Drawing While Scott is well known for his auto designs and there are some examples that use that area of interest, I believe the general nature of this DVD would be beneficial to anyone doing hand sketching in perspective of constructed type items. If you are looking for something that covers more organic forms (like the human figure or creature design) this particular DVD will not likely be of much help directly. However, even those types of drawings/sketches benefit from having a background in perspective (most of the time). By no means is this DVD comprehensive, but it is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to learn perspective drawing or who wants a refresher on the topic.

This is in fact one of THE BEST Gnomon DVDs out there. I am a beginner and its easy to follow along. You will not get lost. Scott is a good teacher and you'll be able to understand everything as long as you do the easy exercises with him. Watch this DVD untill its info sticks into your head. You will get better, I promise.
