Hello,
My name is Aaron Sarlo, and I was a member of the Techno-Squid Eats Parliament. First off, I would like to say thank you to:
tamt from Orlando, FL USA
for the nice things they said about our CD. I was and am very proud of what TSEP accomplished. TSEP was a pretty good live band and the CD doesn't really represent that very well. The rough edges that made TSEP what it was to me are polished off, which soften the impact.
On the other hand,
bluemanhitsquad from Littleton, Colorado United States
...you're right. That album is toooooooo poppy for my tastes. TSEP went on to write much more interesting music (to me, at least) that was, sadly, never released. I wish we'd have been able to get that out so we might be remembered in a better light. I used to really by into TSEP, but when I went on to form another band in Boston, slept, I got to play with two totally different guys who were equally good in totally different ways. We were a three piece. We started experimenting with time signatures, noise became a sort of fourth instrument, that sort of thing.
Anyway, I'd like to send you both some CD's. tamt from Orlando, FL USA - I'd like to send you a copy of the TSEP disc and, also, some bonus tracks on a separate CD, if you'd like. To sweeten the deal, I could send you all the slept stuff we released. It could be my way of saying thank you.
I need to say, "Ummmmm... Sorry about that," to bluemanhitsquad from Littleton, Colorado United States - what can I say? I understand exactly what you mean. (By the way, your review was hysterical! That 'black hole of awfulness' thing is freaking funny. So, you wish you had your money back. I can't do that, because I am poor. But, let me make it up to you.

The more I listen to this CD the more I hear near genius. At times I am reminded of John Lennon like vocals from some of the Beatles catchiest songs. Other times I hear a hauntingly family lower vocal tone reminiscent of Under the Milkyway from the Church.

It is not often one can say they hear at least 6 or 7 hits on one CD but this one you can. Morning Blues, Not Used To, One in a Million, Junky, Fading Star, Quicksand all could be chart toppers. Squid has an incredible ability to come up with incredibly catchy melodies and choruses. With lyrics like Quicksand's "Dragons don't come here anymore" you'll find yourself hooked instantly.

This CD is layered with fantastic "ear-candy" as well, from bell sounds on Fading Star to the wind instrument sounds on Free. The first time you hear the song Time Is Up you'll be blown from your drivers seat into the back seat of your car with its' groove oriented bassline and dynamic stop breaks so precise you could hear a pin drop in between. All this makes you realize Squid has the ability to not only capture mainstream and alternative rock fans but heavier rock fans as well. If the Beatles and Nirvana combined forces and were making music today they just might sound like Squid!!! ...Erol Denizkurt
