This is a fantastic deal. I downloaded it with ease on both vista home premium over the trial version and xp homeover the avg free version. AVG does override your windows firewall and windows defender. In Vista I had to disable MS firewall and Defender upon prompting, giving you a choice of the firewall you want to use. In XP thee were less user choices presented during installation.

Three pieces x 2 years for avg internet security for under $35.? How is this getting a bad review at all? AVG trumps Norton, Mc Afee and K's suites and doesnt slow the machine down like they do. Less than 12 a machine for 2 years protection from a quality program. I don't understand why there isn't a run on this download.

I have been using AVG for 2 or 3 years. I had it on one computer, then I got it for a 2nd computer, and finally for a third computer. When it was time to renew, they put a big "pop up" on my screen saying LICENSE EXPIRED, RENEW NOW. But when I tried, they kept saying this license is invalid or has already been upgraded. So I had to go to the online chat. They found a different license # for me, and that let me get to the upgrade site, but they wanted me to buy a license for 3 computers. I only want one. Another trip to the online chat with Customer Service. "I'll have someone email you a price," they said. After 2 tries I got an email that said you're offered a chance to renew "offline" -- what? am I supposed to send my credit card in an email? The whole thing is clunky and suspicious. Can't they even protect their own website? Why the need to have such a round-about renewal process? It makes me wonder if their software will protect me.

AVG continues to stand out as a great Internet Security package, extremely user-friendly and price conscious. This year a few have surpassed it in standardized efficacy tests, but not by much. For the price, this is my recommendation for friends who don't want to manage multiple free products and don't have a fortune to spend on AV products. It's a great bang for the buck.

The download however, works OK for most but could certainly be better. I bought this for my mother-in-law whose primary computer still runs Windows 2000 Pro. THE AMAZON DOWNLOAD SYSTEM WILL ONLY WORK IN WINDOWS XP & NEWER! Running it in XP, it seems to work fine, though it requires a download and installation of their program before the purchased download can begin. It's clunky but effective, and the only reason I marked this product down to 4-stars (it is after all a download-only version). The mark-down is through no fault of AVG however, simply the crude download process from Amazon.

The only time I will have something negative to say is when my computer gets infected.
This is a great alternative to the overpriced BIG NAME anti virus products.

I have used AVG for several years. I purchase a 3 license pack and run it on a Dell desktop and a couple of Dell laptops. Several months ago on laptop started getting blue screens. I have Dell gold support and went through a number of mother board, processor, DIMM replacements before they decided it was a software problem. After a complete OS install I still got the blue screen which one support person finally tracked to AVG, using winDbg on the minidump. So I upgraded from 2011 AVG to 2012 AVG - this increased my number of blue screens to one a day. I contacted AVG and was told they would have technician look at it but I would have to pay for the service.

There was no mention of possible conflicts, of others having the same problem. I was under the impression that when you purchased AVG you got support. I did not expect to have them fix it but I did expect information. AVGs unwillingness to point me at discussion group conversions on the topic is what I consider a lack of support. If this bothers you, stay away.

i actally have a net book, laptop and a desktop, so i needed anti virus for three computers. i have used avg for a long time and like it better than nortons, or mcafee.

The digital download worked great. When I tried to install it AVG stated that this version was outdated and I should download the latest version. I did that and the installation went very smoothly. Maybe Amazon should update their download version. In any event I switched to AVG because Kaspersky IS 2010 was slowing my machine down and eating up resources. AVG seems to be running great and even found a worm on my system that Kaspersky missed. And did I mention that this is a great value. I now have to replace KIS 2010 on two of my other machines.

What a mistake! I tried out the Amazon download purchase and I'm strongly regretting doing so. Just buy the hard copy version unless you want to deal with failed downloads, failed installs, no support and wasted time. I have no idea if this product is any good, but so far it doesn't even install and work properly. Not a good sign. Waste of time and money... time to see if I can find another anti-virus product that actually works.

I bought this product after reading about AVG and its glowing reviews. However, I had a problem with the install on my second computer. The firewall simply would not install. I tried the online fixes at AVG's Website but none of them worked.

I had to email "customer support," since apparently AVG is too cheap to provide a phone number. Someone named Lakshmi, I am sure from India, emailed me back but his fix did not work.

I would recommend Trend Micro over this want-to-be anti-virus. Trend has toll-free technical support and you get to speak with a live body, instead of being hung out to dry with second-rate support from India!

Of course AVG is known for their free software anti-virus people can download. This software however must be paid for. At $40 it is no bargain either. One could buy from companies like Norton, McAfee, or Trend Micro for less. These are all established players in the anti-virus game unlike AVG--which is known as the free anti-virus company.
I had a problem with the install of my product and the support was frankly a joke. It said I could pay for support, for my brand-new program. Thanks AVG for throwing me under the bus. Pay for support for your product which is brand new? I could buy a legitimate product from any of the known companies above and have free support which doesn't consist of playing email tag with someone from India.
This thing is going right back for a return. I am going back with Trend Micro where I get free support and get to speak with a live human being. Until AVG gets real customer support it will only be good for free software downwloads! The safest thing you can do is not buy this software.
