3.0 out of 5 stars Creative Historic Visualization, March 30, 2006
This review is from: The Technology of Man: A Visual History (Hardcover)
This book, is probably the thirty-first history book, that uses the phrase 'visual history' as part of title (going by the number of titles in Library of Congress). While most art history books will be categorized in the same genre of visual history, but, most writers, seldom think of a name that's allows seeing the history thro' human eyes.

I enjoyed reading this history as it evolved in the technological framework. Once you start, you feel like getting the whole picture.

The strength of the book is it traces the philosophical, technological, financial and social streams all integrated skilfully and artfully. This integration make The technology of man a must read by all who care about where the technique, craft and technology came from and where will it lead us.

Many sections are also in large print -- hopefully, no eye that sees will miss this visual history. Moreover, it is nicely illustrated.

Worth buying for libraries that specialize in history of science and history of technology, as well as, public libraries.
