To rebuild or replace... that's the question? I took the least expensive approach and tried the rebuild... but that didn't work so this review is for both a 632107A carb and a 31840 Oregon 49-840 Carburetor Rebuild Kit Tecumseh Part 31840 kit. The kits are great to rebuild your carburetor... but not in all situations and having used the originals and the generics I never found much of a difference! I have some acreage and all the gas powered equipment it takes to maintain it. Most of my items are older because I think a lot of the newer items are inferior and lack the power you can get out of some of the older equipment. I have a tiller, chipper/shredder, several line trimmers, snow thrower; chainsaw; mowers, leaf blower and probably some others. The larger items are all 5HP or larger. I have rebuilt several carbs and though the kits have what you need I would highly recommend that you remove the fuel bowl and make sure it and the float are OK before you buy the kit... because most kits don't include either of these items nor the manifold gasket. I purchased my kit on eBay to save a few bucks but when I started the rebuild I found that the hinge on the float was so corroded that it was the problem and had to be replaced and the bowl near the hinge had a tiny hole from the same corrosion. I purchased the snow thrower used and would guess the corrosion occurred from sitting dry in the sun for a few years where it would accumulate water from condensation. Anyway, that meant I needed a float, bowl & mounting gasket and when the cost for those were added in the cost of a new carb was less.Read more ›

put the carb on the snowblower and it fired right up and runs great again. if you have issues with a small engine and need a carb replacement this is the one for you. also quick ship and easy to live with prices

Part arrived 2 days before promised. 10 minute install and snowblower started on first pull after installing. Air/fuel mixture set perfectly from factory.
Carb (with shipping) cost less than rebuild kit for my old 16 year old carberator.

Excellent, inexpensive direct replacement for my snow blower's carburetor. No adjustments needed and started the first time as good as new. The only difference is that, unlike the original, there is no drain screw for the gas in the carburetor's bowl (useful for draining all gas from the carburetor at the end of the season). Not a major issue, though, and I could have swapped out the original bowl if I wanted to, though I opted to leave sell enough alone so as not to risk damaging the fragile bowl gasket. As a pleasant bonus, the mount gasket WAS INCLUDED. It alone would have cost about $7 and I chose not to order it as others noted that they also received a gasket with this carburetor despite the fact that the description says it is not included.

I should note that the carburetor's cost was about the same as a kit to rebuild the original 9also available at Amazon). Given that I had to make the repair in 14 degree weather in an unheated detached garage, this greatly simplified my task. Highly recommended. I may buy another just to have as a backup since I expect the problem to recur as the alcohol in today's gas will likely destroy the new carb's gaskets in a few years. Rebuild vs. replace is an easy choice to make when the price is essentially the same.

I found a great deal on a used snowblower that would only run with the choke on. I figured it was some sort of carb issue and planned on buying the snowblower and tearing the carb apart. That was until I found this on Amazon for about twenty bucks. Could I have cleaned up the carb? Sure. Gotten it back together? Maybe. Was it worth the price for a brand new one? ABSOLUTELY! Installation was pretty easy. Save yourself some frustration and just remove the intake right off the cylinder head. It's only two large Phillips screws. That makes swapping carbs easier. Otherwise you'll deal with bolts spinning and then take it all apart again like me. I'm handy and like to tinker and this was pretty easy. Never replaced a carb before but everything was pretty straightforward. The best part...she runs like a champ now. No running on choke, no bogging down, blew some wet snow yesterday without much trouble. Forget rebuild kits or hours of cleaning tiny carb parts, just get a new one. Finally, yes it does come with the gasket!

Like other positive reviews, this carb installed easily for me. It was a direct replacement for my existing carb on my old craftsman 5hp snow thrower. It does indeed have the barb (connection) for my existing primer bulb. Two pumps and this thing started up on the 2nd pull. Ran beautifully. It's been a few weeks and still absolutely no issues. Don't hesitate to buy especially at this price - a no brainier.

This carb works well, bolts up perfectly, and even comes with a gasket. The bad thing is if your equipment has a primer bulb on it THIS DOES NOT have the barbed fitting on the carb for it to go. The seller should have noted this in the description since it is suppose to be a direct replacement.
