About the Author

Author Ted Hood was known worldwide as the man who founded Hood Sailmakers, which during the 60s and 70s was the world's largest sailmaker. He was skipper of the new Sparkman & Stephens-designed Courageous, he defended the America's Cup. He remains busy working on his latest ideas from new boat designs to plans for a 1,500 slip marina. Co-author, Michael Levitt is the author of 12 books. He is the director of communications at the New York Yacht Club. He was the managing editor of Nautical Quarterly for 10 years and senior editor at what is now Sailing World magazine and contributing editor to Yachting magazine.
