Horrible!!!,
This review is from: Ted Nugent: Sweden Rocks (DVD)
First let me say that I am a big Nugent fan. I have enjoyed his performances for years and I thought his last DVD Full Bluntal... was quite good. It's not so much the performances which are a bit forced, even for Ted, but the horrible camera and editing work that was done here. Not only does the editor constantly switch shots, but many of the selected shots are just stupid. There are many moments where Ted is playing some really nice stuff and the camera is somewhere else??!! I blame everyone involved from the camera crew, who are terrible, with shots of the floor, shots of Ted hidden behind his monitor so all you see is a full shot of his monitor??!! What is that all about?? And how could the editor see that and include it?? And how could Ted see this video and put his stamp of approval on it?? Just lazy I guess, which is a real shame. If you all cannot do any better then put the cameras down and forget it. As for his fans just buy the cd you will be much better off.

Ted Nugent "Sweden Rock Festival - 2006" - "Patriotic Muscle Rock" DVD,

FANTASTIC!!! Ted Nugent and his great band rocks on this concert DVD!!! They have a big American Flag as a backdrop (at the back of the stage). Plus, they have an American Flag on a flag pole on stage. You get Ted Nugent on guitar and vocals, Barry Sparks on Bass & background vocals, and Mick Brown on drums and background vocals. This was filmed June 10, 2006 at the Swenden Rock Festival, in the day time, before a large enthusiatic outdoor crowd. Ted, the band, the atmosphere, the music, the crowd are all "really into it" making this one super great concert DVD.
It consists of 15 great songs as follows: 1. StormTroopin' 2. Wango Tango 3. Snakeskin Cowboys 4. Free for All 5. Wang Dang Sweet Poontang 6. Klstrphnky 7. Raw Dogs & War Hogs (Ted dedicates this to the American Soldiers who are fighting against EVIL). He prasies our American Soldiers as Good fighting against evil. I agree with that assessment. May God Bless our Soldiers and the U.S.A. 8. Soul Man (the ole Blues Brothers Classic - dedicated to Motown) 9. Hey BAby 10.Dog eat Dog 11.Still Raising Hell 12.Motor City Madhouse 13.Cat Scratch Fever (A Ted Nuggent Classic) 14.Strnglehold (another Ted classic) 15.Great White Buffalo (During the performance of this one, Ted wears a big Indian Chief feather head band). Also, You get Bonus performances of Live 2007 performances: Journey to the Center of the Mind Weekend Warriors and Love Grenade. Plus, you get interviews with Barry Sparks and Tommy Clufetos from the "Love Grenade" recording sessions. Also, you get "Bow Hunting" with Ted and Ted on the Gun Range. In the sleeve notes Ted states that a man is really blessed if he has at least one killer hunting dog in his life. Ted is really, really blessed because he's on his 5th killer hunting dog. Now, that says alot about the man. I know exactly what he's talking about. I've had some good hunting dogs in my time also. This is a great one, and I highly recommend it!!!

an American original . . .,
This review is from: Ted Nugent: Sweden Rocks (DVD)
Almost never reticent in expressing his opinions, and no stranger to controversy, Detroit's own Ted Nugent, is one of the more colorful figures in hard rock. Like him or not, Nugent is an American guitar icon, with a sound and style that still remains quite unique. Separating reality from the hype may be hard to do, as over the years `Terrible Ted' has fueled many fires in building a larger than life, non-PC persona. Besides being a gonzo guitar player with a penchant for profanity, Nugent is also known as a nature loving outdoorsman, avid hunter and firearms proponent, radio and TV personality, author, and political conservative with aspirations of running for office.
This DVD features Nugent at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2006. The band is a three piece, with veteran musicians Barry Sparks (Dokken, UFO, Uli Jon Roth) on bass and Mick Brown (Dokken) on drums. Bursting into the heavy metal mainstream in the 70's, Nugent's band typically featured a rhythm guitar player (Derek St. Holmes, Charlie Huhn) who handled most of the vocals, leaving Ted free to create mayhem on lead guitar. Ted's performance here is impressive, as in addition to his usual deadly guitar work, he also sings lead on all but one song. It's quite a lot on his plate, but Nugent is more than up to the task, as his musical skills and tongue, appear to be sharper than ever. The Dokken rhythm section of Sparks and Brown, dubbed by Ted the `funk brothers`, are steady and solid. His newer material is represented, but Nugent draws heavily from his classic 70's period, featuring Stranglehold, Cat Scratch Fever, Free For All, Wang Dang Sweet Poontang, Hey Baby, Snakeskin Cowboys, Motor City Madhouse, and Dog Eat Dog. Even without a rhythm guitar, the sound is nearly always full, and there are few gaps in Nugent's sonic attack. The 85 minute show finishes with Ted donning an Indian headdress for the Amboy Duke classic, and concert staple, Great White Buffalo, which features excepts from Hibernation, another gem from the Tooth, Fang and Claw album. Nugent has an afternoon time slot at the festival, so the stage lights don't have their full effect. The crowd is set back from the stage, and the energy level takes a while to build. Even with less than ideal conditions, the band delivers the goods, spiced up with plenty of Ted's profanity laced chatter, and numerous references to Sweden. Nugent uses a headset mike, so singing ties him down as little as possible. Bottom line, at 58, the man still is full of piss and vinegar, and plays a mean guitar. Fans should not be disappointed by this performance. Reasonably priced, the DVD also has some interesting extras. Additional live performances from 2007, a couple of short interviews with band members, and video clips of Nugent and band members bow hunting, and firing weapons on full auto.

With a couple of "bad" reviews, I almost didn't buy this one. I'm glad I took a chance and picked it up.
Yes, a number of shots are a bit jerky, or a stage monitor does indeed briefly block your view of Ted. And, the start of his solo on Stormtrooping is a shot of the bass player instead of Ted. But, the video is razor sharp, the audio is nice, and Ted STILL puts on a heck of a show, unreal energy, and he has this crowd fully entertained. And Ted's playing gets better and better. Pick it up, it's a fun video to watch.

Ted might look older, but he still has the mind of a 20-year old.,

I saw Ted Nugent on this same tour and he's got more energy than most entertainers. His guitar playing is still top notch. The Swedish crowd seems amazed at this American gem.

Some Love for Ted and Les,

That is Les Paul, which Ted features on most all of this short but oh so sweet concert DVD. Unlike his two DVD set Ted Nugent - Full Bluntal Nugity Live which is a great show and something of a career retrospective with all the archival footage or his more recent DVD and Blu Ray Ted Nugent: Motor City Mayhem - 6,000th Concert This show isn't Ted the headliner but support act. Its obvious he is a late afternoon guest in a big festival with headliners like Alice Cooper still to come so his set is briefer than the other two shows. The fact that the camera work is a bit rougher than the other two shows on DVD makes for a bit of fun for me and a bit of something different. Ted had to really work the crowd because they were NOT there to see him so that is why the extra banter/hype that has offended the other reviewers.
Ted is performing with just a bass and drum support here and yes the repertoire is familiar but his guitar work is always fresh...sure sometimes he's playing something great and they aren't showing it but I'm sure this is just from the "live feed" and anyway ..all you haters its barely over 10 bucks! I've watched this more times than the other superior products mentioned already...perhaps because its a bit over an hour (bonus features are fun as well) so its more easily fit into a quick viewing than the 2 hour shows. Anyway ...I felt I needed to balance the 1 star reviews by alleged "fans" of Ted.

Sound is generally good on this disc (DTS, Dolby 5.1, and Dolby 2.0 tracks are included) except for the three 2007 bonus songs, which sound as though they were recorded through a camcorder mic and are in Dolby 2.0 only. Video is sharp with no graininess to speak of, though it appears to have been shot on videotape rather than film. Also, don't be fooled by the 16:9 in the description: only a few of the interviews are in 16:9; the concert itself is 4:3, which was a disappointment. But it's still well worth having for any fan of Uncle Ted, especially for <$15. The performance is great and the gun and bow sequences are good fun.
