3.0 out of 5 stars OK... but the last illustration is a little creepy., January 20, 2010
I like Teddy Roosevelt, especially the San Juan Hill Teddy Roosevelt.

This book takes you through Teddy's asthmatic childhood, his brilliance at school, his ranching days in early adulthood, his leadership in the military, and then his presidency.

It focuses WAY too much time on his interactions with his children while he was president -- who cares? The book mentions his progressive causes but does not elaborate.

This book is not going to make your child fall in love with or admire Teddy Roosevelt. It may not even interest your child at all. And the last page's illustrated portrait of him is pretty creepy -- those teeth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok for the Most Part, December 8, 2004
The story about Teddy Roosevelt is pretty interesting. I scratched my head at learning that the United States entered the Spanish-American War because the US was afraid of Spain invading them. What??????? I would sentence this writer, her editor and the publishing company back to History 101 for remediation!
