5.0 out of 5 stars An impressive collection of teen writing
When I finally got my copy of TeenInk: our voices, our visions I sat down on the couch and dove in to this compilation of nonfiction, poetry and fiction. 1.0 out of 5 stars Not Really Great..
I thought this book would be a good book, but after I ordered it from amazon.com, then I started to read it. Most of the stories are confusing and sometimes dont make any sense, the poetry is weird, I think chicken soup is way better! Its an okay book, but if would have know it was going to be like this I wouldnt have bought it.

When I finally got my copy of TeenInk: our voices, our visions I sat down on the couch and dove in to this compilation of nonfiction, poetry and fiction. I didn't get up again until I read the last page. Wow! Every story rang true; this is an unprecedented collection of teen voices. With chapters on friends, fitting in, love, challenges, family, heroes, loss and memories, the book touches every aspect of teen life. IT'S NOT GOOPY! Some stories are very touching, even emotional, but nothing is sugar-coated. This is mature, intelligent writing from young people who have both a firm grasp on life and are, sometimes, just hanging on.

Buy it, read it, read it again... My Christmas shopping will be easy this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling true stories by teens for teens, September 29, 2000

This absorbing collection of teenage tales is gripping and emotional.
There's no adult filter to distance the reader from writers who have
experienced pain, loss, love, and all the challenges of contemporary
teenage experience. Teens will read the book cover-to-cover at one
sitting because they won't be able to put it down. I recommend it to
parents and teachers as a mightily effective way to recapture a vision
of the world from a teen perspective. The visceral moments are
sometimes scary, often sad, and always revealing. The one hundred
selections culled from hundreds of thousands of submissions to TeenInk
magazine during the last decade are powerful and well written. This
book will make me a better parent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teen Ink: Our Voices, Our Visions, August 21, 2001

This book has some amazing and inspiring stories, all written by teenagers. There are some moments to which everybody can relate, like a first crush or the death of a family member; Other stories are unique and exciting (one teen writes about being held captive at gunpoint in his family home). The book is easy to read, written by a variety of teens in their natural voices. I think it is wonderful that teenagers have this opportunity to express themselves through writing and artwork. This is a must read for every adolescent, or anybody who needs to be reminded what their teenage years were like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teens speak to other Teens, October 3, 2000
This review is from: Teen Ink: Our Voices, Our Visions (Paperback)
I may be a little biased because I wrote one of the stories, but this book is amazing. Finally a book that lets teens share their stories with other teens. I wish something like this had been around when I was a teen. My story was written eight years ago when I thought I was the only one feeling the way I did. This book lets teens know that they are not alone and there are others that are out there feeling the same way. I really loved reading all the different stories, some made me laugh, some made me sniffle but all made me feel I was not alone thru those painful years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, May 29, 2002

This book was very inspirational and creative~ It's a book for teenagers written by teenagers~ I'm a big fan of books like this one and I finished it in less than 2 days. It's a must read if you like Chicken Soup or Teen Love.

The stories were honest, truthful, and eye opening. Teenagers writing true stories about experiences they've been through. There's also great works of fiction in this book as well. This is the first in a series of four Teen Ink Books (with more to come in the future.)

Teenagers will love this book, taking advice and stories to heart. Parents will love this book to get a deeper look at real teenagers and maybe better understand just what all we teenagers do go through~

You can't loose with this book! Even if you only read a few of the short stories, they'll stick with you~ Even if you're not an avid reader, take a chance on reading this book! I'm sure you'll understand and enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Teen Ink- hot as pink, May 28, 2001

This review is from: Teen Ink: Our Voices, Our Visions (Paperback)
Teen Ink is a moving book with stories that really take you inside a life of a teenager. It has different catagories: friends, love, challenges, family, heros, loss, memories, fitting in, and creativity. It is written by teenagers obviously! They way they express their feelings and thoughts is a wonderful way for teenagers to vent themselves. Their stories can be fiction or non fiction. It is a book that you can explore another person's life. You could learn a valueble lesson from a shy or quiet teenager, or you can understand the feelings of a rebelious teenager. Either way, I personally think it is one heck of a book.

The problems in this book deals with common problems of a teenager's life. This book tells teens how to deal with their problems, instead of making the wrong decision. These stories are not just helpful they are interesting. An interesting book can grab your attention and make you want to keep reading. The stories in this book grab your attention and make you want to finish the whole book. I enjoy a book that can grab your attention and make you feel like you can't put it down. This book is rated four stars with me because it's good but just not perfect but it near perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving, refreshing works by real teens, October 19, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Teen Ink: Our Voices, Our Visions (Paperback)
I was really astounded when I picked up Teen Ink for the first time. Put plainly, Teen Ink is the only book out there that gives teens a place to share what's most meaningful to them - from touching stories about the loss of family members or friends to those light, heady tales of a first kiss. With poems, art and photography from teens to boot, it has, for lack of a better expression, everything!

So many books for teenagers are written by adults with good intentions who, unfortunately, are trapped in a one-sided view of teen life -- Teen Ink is definitely NOT one of them. Teen Ink is so amazing because it releases both its authors and readers alike from preconcieved expections of how teens should think and what they should say. The results are magnificent--the teen authors write with a surprising insightfulness about their world.

Parents and teens alike will find the book a moving reminder about what life is all about. I know I did.
