It explores various causes of and problems resulting from alcohol dependency and suggests strategies for prevention and recovery. Graphs, diagrams, and photos enhance gripping testimonials (especially about drunk driving) that, without becoming didactic, argue strongly against teen drinking. Although the results of some studies lose credibility because the sources aren't cited, much interesting data, such as how blood alcohol levels are calculated, and brief histories of national organizations like SADD, MADD, and SafeRides make this a multifaceted resource that students could use for personal information as well as persuasive reports. The appendix, glossary, and index are helpful, and an organization contact list and a bibliography provide venues for further research.
