For teenagers, appearance can be an all-consuming obsession that leads to several debilitating eating disorders. The author explores the nature, causes, effects, treatment, and prevention of eating disorders in teenagers.
I've worked as an editor, writer and English teacher. My favorite job ever was writing and editing a magazine for a children's hospital, where I could feature their marvelous success stories. As a freelancer, I write short stories for children, and was published in Highlights for Children, Children's Digest, Jack and Jill, My Friend and several anthologies. A lot of my stories are historical fiction and I especially love the Revolutionary War period.
Which brings me to my most recent book, Young Patriots. This book was written with Marcie Anderson, a longtime friend, and was published by Boyds Mills Press in Honesdale, PA. It's a collection of short stories set during the American Revolution and is for young readers ages 10 and up. The stories are light and easy to read, as well as carefully researched. Each one features a young person's adventures during an important event of the Revolution. I like to tell kids that it's a fun way to learn American history.
