Book Description

September 25, 2007

Let’s face it, how we behave is a choice, and as you move into adult life, the choices get more complicated. You are out in the world, meeting all kinds of people and going different places on your own. Questions of etiquette seem to pop up everywhere you go:

  • What’s the latest on cell phone use and netiquette?
  • How can you make a good impression at college and job interviews?
  • What fork do you use?
  • How do you attach a boutonniere without sticking your prom date?
  • And what is a boutonniere, anyway?

Not to worry, help is at hand!

Teen Manners: From Malls to Meals to Messaging and Beyond is a useful guide that answers questions that come up in real life from the most trusted name in etiquette: Emily Post.

5.0 out of 5 stars Manners Matter, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Teen Manners: From Malls to Meals to Messaging and Beyond (Hardcover)
A concise, thorough guide for teens (and beyond!) on manners and why they are important. Nowadays many people think that manners are old fashioned. But the measure of a person in whatever walk of life is how they treat and communicate with the people around them whether classmates, friends, dates, family members or co-workers. I highly recommend this little book for teenagers as well as parents of young children who would do their youngsters a huge favor by teaching them good manners at an early age.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for Tweens with a little scissoring, February 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Teen Manners: From Malls to Meals to Messaging and Beyond (Hardcover)
I bought this for a teenage grandchild, reviewed it and determined it was too young for her but just right for the 8-9 year olds with one exception. About 4 pages discuss sexual relations including oral sex. A razor blade near the spline took them out and I will give them to the parents to use or not as they see fit. The information wasn't very shocking but also not helpful at all.

This book is great for younger children even, since kids seem to be growing up at such a fast pace.(from my observations) From about age 9 on up this book would be a good guide for kids. I am going to order more of them to give to my other (several) grandchildren.

I read the book before giving it to my granddaughter, just to make sure it wasn't something too hokey. It is simply good sense guide on how to treat others with respect and not be too "old-fashioned" or corny about it. Common courtesy is not so common anymore...so I appreciate this book and highly recommend it.
